Brewery

Food & Drink

The Alexander Keith's Brewery is a popular tourist attraction in Halifax, Nova Scotia and is home to over 50 breweries. The tour features a behind-the-scenes look at the brewing process as well as musical entertainment performed by local musicians.

Great tour of the brewery and we happened to come on a special night where they had live music (fiddles and old songs). Very entertaining and the beer is very good!

Ana M — Google review

Nice little tour! Takes about 50 minutes and includes 2.5 beers per person (stout sample, standard IPA, plus a free choice of whatever they have on tap). I wasn’t too interested in the history, but learned a couple nice things - you will likely feel rushed if that’s your goal here. There’s a fun basem*nt bar portion with some live music by the tour guides. This was my favourite part and the performances were really lovely - won’t spoil any specifics! We went on Keith’s birthday (October 5) so it was free! Try to do that if you can make it happen!

Nathan M — Google review

Interesting tour of Alexander Keith's original brewery plus you get tasters of the small batch brews that are only available in Nova Scotia. Fantastic. Knowledgeable and friendly tour guides.

Jay Y — Google review

We checked out the AK brewery tour while downtown Halifax. It was good. The guides put in a lot of passion and effort. I don't drink, but everyone else seemed to enjoy the samples.

David P — Google review

Had a great time here. They have lots of history and the tour guides were very friendly. You get multiple free beers throughout the tour and get to listen to some talented singers. The only thing I didn’t love was that the content of the tour was very scripted and felt cringey at times, I felt it could be a bit more natural.

Curtis T — Google review

Went for the brewery tour. I think the price is a little steep. It was fun, but at $26 a pop, could have been a little better orchestrated. I enjoyed the live music. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. The end at the tasting room though was very rushed. Probably only had about ten minutes to drink two beers? Could have been better, could have been worse.

Caitlin Z — Google review

Had fun on the tour! I’m not a fan of beer but my husband is. He loved the beer. The staff were super energetic and entertaining. They make the tour awesome. My only complaint is that the tour is very fast paced. We got to look around the first room but barely got to look around the second room (dining hall) and third room (ingredients). The final taste tasting was well paced and entertaining. We do recommend doing this tour!

J C — Google review

Well worth the money. $25(ish)/per person. A 1 hour informative tour with some live music at the end. And you get almost two and half beers in that time. I recommend eating lunch before you go or you’ll be feeling it from the beers! There was 4 different choices to sample from. There is no area to drink from there only while on the tour. They do have an affiliated restaurant around the corner where they do serve the different kinds. A cool little bit of history on the tour. I recommend this!Reserve your spot ahead of time as it will sell out.

Alysha D — Google review

Ok so here’s the deal.. this isn’t a Brewery tour, it’s more like a History Lesson combined with a Play/Musical… and if you go into with that in mind you will give it 4 or 5 stars… but if you are a beer junkie looking to learn and be engulfed in Alexander Keith’s operation, 3 stars may be generous. This is a fun quick tour that is worth the $25 admission considering it also comes with 2.5 beers (take the tour and you’ll understand) time slots fill up fast so I’d buy ahead online if you can.The staff are friendly but are more like actors than beer experts. In my group I think 3-5 questions were asked and when off script none of the staff could answer questions like… (1) when was Alexander Keith born? (2) are the hops and barley local? (3) where does the water used to make the beer come from? All in all, it was an enjoyable sideshow

Rob E — Google review

In the summer I booked a private tour there for a bachelorette and the tour was ABOVE AND BEYOND what we could have expected! We were greeted in the final tasting room by a trio of ladies singing old sea shanties in 3 part harmony and we legit all cried. Wholesome people who care clearly work here and it was such a vibeeeee! Can’t wait to go back!!!

Ola K — Google review

The brewery tour was so great!I wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The tour was interesting, lots of history, starts with a beer tasting! The tour ends with a “party” downstairs. It’s a cute little basem*nt bar where you get two more tastings. They also have the staff perform some songs and instruments. What a great experience! It’s a must if visiting Halifax!

Shaina W — Google review

For my first brewery tour, this was really good! From the start right to the finish, the tour did NOT disappoint! There is a lot of history shared about Keith and his family, how the product is made and the variations that are created. A huge thank you to Hailey, Raina, Maeve, Libby and Drew who made the tour awesome!

Gabrielle C — Google review

I have gone on this tour twice and have had a blast both times. Here, you will learn about the life of Alexander Keith, hear an explanation of the brewing process, see Keith's-related artifacts (e.g. a Keith's beer bottle, which was still intact when found in the ocean, estimated at 125-years-old), taste beer samples (non-alcoholic options are available for non-drinkers), plus listen to live music inside a traditional pub replica. Truly, this is the gold standard of brewery tours.

James C — Google review

Right at downtown waterfront Halifax. Went for a brewery tour. It was a very organized tour, with lots of Halifax and Keith brewery history, and samples are great. The guides can sing really well, enjoyed the beer and performance. Recommend this highly, tour tickets can be purchased on their website in advance.

Susan W — Google review

Fun 1 hour tour that was worth the price of admission with all the samples they provide! They really put on a show and the Canadian history of the East coast! You don’t need to be a drinker to enjoy this one. Book in advance for sure!

Cris L — Google review

We did the tour. Last one at 7pm. It began ok. Tour guides change when you visit different locations in the brew house. Your met with a tray of Keith’s pale ale. 4oz glasses. Nice. There were 6 left in the tray as some people are not interested. I asked the Barman can I have another but was refused. He poured the 6 glasses down the sink ?? However when you get to the bar the atmosphere changes. Brilliant. 3 girls playing music and singing. Also a 12oz glass of pale ale. That’s more like it. Overall pretty good. The girls in the bar gave it the 5 stars.

John C — Google review

Cute little tour but very scripted. You get 2.5 drinks/samples. The music was the highlight for me at the end of the tour. Not much of brewery tour though. So that was a bit of a disappointment. It was nice that they had lemonade for children to enjoy.

Farmers Markets

The Halifax Seaport Farmers' Market is a popular marketplace with a variety of vendors selling fresh produce, artisanal foods, plants and handicrafts. It is open seven days a week, and busiest on Saturday mornings.

so many vendors! an amazing place to shop for christmas gifts. i love this place because it really brings together everything local and so many cool artists. there’s coffee, sculptures, indian food, pierogis, breakfast foods, pastries, fresh produce, art, clothes, jewelry, soaps, mittens, candles, the list goes on! a very busy place and a wonderful atmosphere! very spacious. things here are usually pricey but for good reason. there’s also lots of tables to sit and eat your food at and chat with people around you. also a beautiful location - right on the water! and just a walk away from downtown. everyone here is so sweet and it’s impossible to not be in a good mood at the farmer’s market!

Kasia G — Google review

It's a very interesting little fresh market in downtown Halifax with all local goods. There are a number of stalls for fruit and vegetables and other products all made by locals Halifaxans. The market takes place only on the weekends.

Reza N — Google review

Visited first time on an early Saturday Morning. It is a decent small market. People do come and buy from local bakers, farmers and artisans. Had coffee with fresh bakery. Definitely worth visiting.Timings are -Saturday (8am - 2pm)Sunday (10am - 2pm)Parking available next to the market.

Ravikant A — Google review

Worth visiting. Lots of variety of vendors from food, to pottery, to handmade artisan goods (candles, woodworking). We bought a nice matte finish mug from water dragon pottery.

David P — Google review

Great little market….I would consider it more like a flea-market opposed to a farmers market. A farmers market would mean actual farmers would be there selling their farm-to-table farm items. It’s more local vendors selling handmade goods, home cooked food, coffee and some businesses promoting their products. Either way it’s nice.

Jason S — Google review

Wonderful indoor farmers marker that has good mix of groceries, craft stores and food stands. Altogether about fifty stores. Talk to few shop owners and they are very friendly. Just keep in mind some shops only take cash. I specially love the bakeries.

SSIU — Google review

New location, smaller venue. Some nice crafts, local produce and meats, fresh bread and international foods like curries and pirogies :) Nice outdoor walk out deck w a view of George’s island. Not as big as old market (about half the size) worth a visit on a Saturday morning.

Samantha A — Google review

Great little market to go to! A variety of food selections along with small business owners selling their products. Great to go early in the morning, get coffee and bagel, and watch the ocean outside!

Hyung K — Google review

The new location was vibrant and fresh! Full of vendors and customers that were taking it all in. Organized, well laid out, large clean bathrooms and great variety. Warm and friendly!

Amazing place, great variety of vendors and food. Loved it!

Eileen T — Google review

Great venue, lots of amazing vendors! An overall great experience for our family. It was great meeting local farmers and business owners. We loved the port as well and the face painting :) Food vendors were yummy and clean! We especially loved the bakery that had gluten free options :)Just wish there were more fish vendors ;). Definitely worth a visit if you are traveling to Halifax!

Crystal C — Google review

A very small market arranged by its community. Not much lucrative as it is hiped. Open only on Saturday and sinday

Mohammad I — Google review

First time visiting the FM in this new location at Pier23.Great paroduce, bakeries, artisan food products and art.I bought a monster-size blueberry roll, ate 1/2. And a good bowl of seafood chowder for lunch.

Grace K — Google review

We were here early Sunday afternoon but it wasn’t very busy.. only a few stands were up but it was a great experience nonetheless. Many amazing dedicated local vendors with beautiful products to share - quite the variety. I was also pleasantly surprised at the international food options!! Great market and would definitely visit again if I ever have the chance

Yasmin M — Google review

Decent market. Has couple great food options. Ann the soup place had great assortment of soups. Filipino steamed buns were also great. And the lava honey. Must try if you are over.

Maritime museum

Museums

The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax showcases Nova Scotia's maritime history from the fishery to World War II. There is an emphasis on boats and vessels, from small crafts to warships. Various exhibits explore different aspects of Nova Scotia's seafaring past, such as sailing days for early explorers to steam-powered boats. The museum also has a permanent exhibit about the Titanic disaster with artifacts and dozens of photos. It is open year round.

Loved the museum!Lots of interesting stuff for kids and adults. The only disappointment was that we could visit the CSS Acadia.Apparently, it is open only on Tuesdays, 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm and Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10:30 to 4:30 pm. 🤷‍♀️If you have a chance, jump on a group tour about the Titanic. Our guide was incredible! The most entertaining guided tour we ever had.Outside is a good kids' playground.

Roman — Google review

This museum was pretty good. Interesting stuff on the Titanic and Halifax disaster. On the second floor, there was a small theatre that played those Canadian Heritage commercials (on loop) from like twenty years ago. Such a walk down memory lane from my childhood.

David P — Google review

Total enjoyed the Maritime Museum! So much history, it was busy, the items are so interesting. Would love to return. The Titanic section was so interesting as was the Halifax explosion.

Lisa D — Google review

I appreciate the efforts of so many to provide slices of history and other nautical information to the museum! I rarely get there, but I'm so glad to be greeted by that glowing lighthouse light. I've enjoyed it since I was little. Viewing William Hall's cross; looking at more details about the Halifax Explosion, and even checking out a Sable Island monitoring station scavenger, were unforgettable highlights. Get over when you're able. Museum passes are very good for curiosity-quenching times.

Jasmine W — Google review

Really great museum. The employees are full of knowledge for all your questions, especially Titanic and the harbour explosion. They have a blue macaw named Merlin and he is a ginormous sweetheart. He likes to nap in the afternoon, but he will chat with you if you approach him right. Sorry to spend so much time on the parrot, he was such a darling so no ragerts.

Paige — Google review

This place was such a cool find!! I need to start by saying the people who work here were fantastic, greeted you with a smile and so friendly!! I was excited to come and see the Titanic exhibit and didn't really know what else to expect from the experience. I ended up loving the entire museum start to finish. They have a few great spots in there for some fun photo ops and a little observation deck up top overlooking the gorgeous waterfront. Tickets were priced right and we even got to wish Merlin the parrot a happy birthday! Check it out if you are in the area.

Pam R — Google review

There are 2 floors to the museum. When you enter, there's a information display to your left that talks about the history of the building that houses the museum. In front of you is where you pay for your admission. Adult admission is $9.55.The day we went, they were showing a special short 11 min film about the Titanic: The Halifax Story between 11 am to 12 pm on the second floor in their mini theatre. There's another movie that plays. About the Bluenose. Another movie called Sable Island plays, 28 min. They seem to show different movies, with different times. I caught the tail end of the Bluenose movie. The last movie today is Sable Island. The museum workers show movies on days that are particularly busy, to thin out the crowds in the exhibits. The walking onto the deck of the CSS Acadia wasn't open, cause of the rainy weather. On the ground floor, there's a person working on assembling model ships. There are lots of model ships. There is history here about the Halifax Explosion. There is a Indigenous exhibit. They have a parrot in a cage here named Merlin. The second floor has history about the Titanic and Nova Scotia shipwrecks. Artefacts of the Titanic can be found in the displays. And a lot of model ships. There's an area about sailing as well.bthe floorboards creak very loudly- I assume to mimic the creaky floorboards of an actual ship. The day we went, it got pretty busy as time passed. We spent about 5 hours here. Surprisingly a good museum. Was much more than we expected.

TheArchitect — Google review

Neat place. Loved the models, especially. They were so intricately detailed. You could tell that a lot of time and effort had gone into their restoration, which was done by a group of volunteers! It was absolutely amazing to see.

Barry B — Google review

This should be on the "must-see" list of all visitors to Halifax. As the oldest and biggest maritime museum in Canada, it provides an excellent history of Halifax, as well as seafaring in general. You can see exhibits that range from the sinking of the Titanic, to the Halifax explosion of 1917, a history of the Mi'kmaq indigenous people, and the children's TV show Theodore Tugboat, which was inspired by Halifax. The observation deck, meanwhile, offers gorgeous views of the waterfront (see videos below), while I also enjoyed the replica that let's you feel like you are sailing on a ship (see video below)

James C — Google review

Fantastic small museum. Laid out very nice and the staff were great. It was a great place to visit while downtown Halifax. Highly recommend it if you are in the area. Also a great place for children. They also have a great "huge" patio area where you can sit outside and enjoy the waterfront!

Glen M — Google review

Well worth the visit. They've done an excellent job with several different sections. Downstairs is the history of an explosion from two ships that collided in 1917 that destroyed Halifax. Upstairs is a maritime museum and a separate section dedicated to the Titanic. Lots of signage where you take a self-guided tour. Also downstairs (before you enter the museum) is a hardware ship chandlery. The curator was very knowledgeable answering our every question. Sorry I only took a few misc pictures.

Frank A — Google review

Super interesting museum. Get to learn About the Halifax explosion, and see artifacts from the Titanic. Neat place. They also have a beautiful Macau that might be suffering from anxiety.Entrance is free in Tuesday’s after 5pm.

Carole W — Google review

I am no museum expert. I had meh expectations going in to this place. But I was very much delighted by this place. So much rich history all explain and very nicely laid out. From the Halifax explosion to shipwrecks to the titanic. Very well done and enjoyable. Never thought being educational would be a huge positive but this place just kept you want more. Spent easily a couple hours here. A very large collection of very intricate models are all around. Fascinating to think of all the work out into those. Absolutely worth the money.Great place for adults and kids. Nice gift shop inside as well. I bought a shirt. No review on the shirt yet.

Rob N — Google review

Definitely one of the coolest museums I've been to. I've never been to a maritime museum, but have always wanted to go. Interesting even for the kids. So much information on boats, shipwrecks, the Halifax disaster, and the Titanic. Many artifacts from the Titanic at this location. Really enjoyed the room with all of the sailboats. There is a ship outside that you can tour as well, however it was closed when we wanted to tour it. Two floors of information. You could spend at least 4+ hours here. We spent about 2 hours and definitely did not get through it all. Lots to learn about!

Megan H — Google review

Great place, lots to see and experience! The Titanic section was a big hit, but anyone interested in maritime history, boats, and even navigational aids will not be disappointed!! If you need a break, they also have a deck where you can sit and watch the ships in the harbour.

Susan N — Google review

This museum has gone through some impressive upgrades since the last time I went. This time we went for the Titanic exhibit. Would recommend checking it out. The balcony overlooking the waterfront is worth going to for great views of the harbour and the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk.

Geoffrey B — Google review

What an amazing gem of a museum! It took me over 2 hours to get through the exhibits and I learned so much about the local maritime history. The cost is very reasonable. Wouldn’t appeal as much to younger children as it’s very reading heavy - would be even more incredible with some more interactive exhibits.

Shilo D — Google review

Fantastic small museum just by the Halifax waterfront. Really nice staff as well. Open all day till 5pm. They have really great exhibits of different ship reproductions as well as detailed stories on the titanic, the Halifax explosion, as well as treasures from shipwrecks. Great place to visit if you’re ever in the Halifax downtown area.

Phebe H — Google review

I went here for my cadets. This place was really nice and very informative with the cool models ships and blocks with history. We were also provided with a scavenger hunt with answers that could be found around the place.Their was also music and singing upon my visit with small tables with activities.

Chas C — Google review

Nice way to spend am afternoon. It was a rainy day so we decided to check it out. Great ship reproductions as well as excellent information on the titanic and Halifax explosion. After the museum make a point to go to the cemetery where the titanic and hakifax graves and memorial are located.

John S — Google review

Amazing experience, was fun to have the opportunity to see it. Not expensive for everyone, free for crew.So many good things to see, and a nice gift shop. I recommend.

Vinicius F — Google review

Went because my Mom wanted to go but I really enjoyed it. Excellent information and displays, especially thought the Halifax Explosion section was really well done and of course the Titanic exhibit.

Brenda J — Google review

Maritime Museum of Atlantic, is a good place for the family visiting. Where you can find out not only about Canadian story of maritime, but worldwide as well. Some of the Museum items, are came from real ships!

Andrew K — Google review

Great museum with lots to look at. Kids even had a lot of fun too

The S — Google review

As my other museum reviews, I will say that this is a great gem. I came by due to a change in travel plans. It's well worth traveling for, with strong story telling of both Halifax and Titanic.

Jens A — Google review

A great place for learning the history of sailing and ships. The most precious exhibits in this museum is the real relic which refloated from Titanic, since Halifax is one of the nearest city to the wreck of Titanic.

Hanhua G — Google review

Great place to know more about historical significance and impacts of Halifax Explosion and more. Lots of cool ship models and other artifacts! Anyone who is interested in history or ships must visit:)

Atita A — Google review

It was a cool experience going to the museum. They have lots of artifacts from all eras of boats and ships, including some of the Titanic. Also, they have the original models for the Thomas the Tugboat tv show!

Ferries

The Halifax Ferry Terminal is a historic and convenient way to travel between Halifax and Dartmouth. The ferry service, which has been in operation since 1752, offers a quick fifteen-minute trip across the harbor. Visitors can choose from ferries to Alderney Landing or Woodside in Dartmouth, both of which provide stunning views of the waterfronts. The terminal staff are known for their friendliness and helpfulness, while the facilities are well-maintained and efficient.

May 2024 5*One of the most beautiful and fastest way to reach to Dartmouth and Woodbury. There is Ferry every 15 minutes. Halifax Transit is doing amazing work and operating 5 ferries to connect two key points. The organization is planning to launch new route and will induct 5 electric ferries.Terminals are renovated and nicely designed. Staff is wonderful and very helpful. There is restroom at the terminal.

Jaspal S — Google review

The cities only Halifax terminal is a very efficient and safe operating system providing passenger only service between Dartmouth and Halifax. It offers service back and forth on a ser routine s chedule, with times to suit perfect to and from for working passengers.

Bruce M — Google review

It's a cheap ride to get on the boat, though the Halifax Ferry Terminal building facility could improve to meet the 21st century. While the HFXGO app is useful, tap payment options could be added for convenience rather than getting coin change to pay in cash for people visiting from out of town.

Alvin M — Google review

Exact change cash only $2.75 to ride the Alderney ferry there and back to Halifax within 90 minutes! Plus a bus ride to the terminal and back. We had plenty of time to get Montreal Style Bagels and get back to the ferry. Certainly great to see the view of both cities from the water. Highly recommended boat tour.

First L — Google review

A slightly awkward looking terminal for the Ferry to Woodside and Alderney. Boats run regularly, but not to both locations. There are few people there, so you can feel that it is not working. The building is older, but it is part of a nice promenade.

Cirrus S — Google review

The ferry to/from Halifax/Alderney(Dartmouth) is a great experience. Great views of both sides.Ask for a free transfer so you can come back without paying the return. The cost as of October 2023 is 2.75. They require you to pay in exact change, but there was a change machine that worked great.

Jorge C — Google review

Nice clean terminal with bathrooms if need while waiting to get on the ferry. Ride was awsome as you get a wonderful view of both sides. Sit inside or on top, just a real fun but short trip. Well worth the price of the ticket both ways. That's how they are able to maintain such a great operation.

Brad D — Google review

Excellent way to move back and forth from Halifax and Darthmouth, opened all year round, cheap and always right on time: I like this!!Take some change, is $2.75 currently and you need that exactly, they do not take bills but you can break them at the change machine in the terminal. No cars, but you can bring your bike.Too bad the windows are so dirty for pictures...

Laurent D — Google review

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The Halifax side is beautiful and I love being on the waterfront. The ferries are still running on schedule although sparsely travelled these days. One of the ferries is called Viola Desmond, which was really wonderful to see. Washrooms are still open, which was great. Well kept, and efficient, plus gives you the best views of both Halifax and Dartmouth waterfronts while on your journey.

Krista W — Google review

Be prepared to take en exact amount of money. Back to the last, no credit card payments and no change! Change machines and ATM most doesn’t work.

Kamil G — Google review

While you may not think of the commuter ferry being something you would do on vacation, this is one of the best deals in town. You can take the Ferry from Downtown Halifax to Dartmouth and be treated by great views of the city that you would not get unless you paid a lot of additional money to pay for a tour that takes you out on the water. The ferries run on a regular schedule and you can pay the fair just once and ride both directions as long as you are only on the other side for less than 90 minutes. We ended up staying longer than that, but it was still worth the experience and providing us the opportunity to enjoy the food and beverages over on the Dartmouth side.

Steven Y — Google review

They have timely departures to Alderney every 15 minutes for $2.75 per person and they accept only exact cash (no debit or credit is acceptable). If you plan to return in 2hrs, you can use a transfer to avoid paying for return ticket. The staff were helpful, seating area was designed for social distancing. The ride was amazing in this great weather!

The Halifax Waterfront Boardwalk is a popular tourist attraction in the city of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The boardwalk has a wide variety of restaurants and shops, as well as attractions like the Halifax Waterfront Ballpark. It's a lively and busy place that's great for family fun.

Walking the waterfront is my favourite thing to do in Halifax. The boardwalk is incredibly accessible and full of history, beautiful views and great food. Listening to local buskers and people watching is part of the journey. The colourful Adirondack chairs Harbourside are a great place to take in a drink or ice cream and enjoy the afternoon. Highly recommend.

Lovely, serene and historic. A place to relax, a place to explore, a place to enjoy. Eat, drink and be merry! Wear comfy shoes! If you climb the hill to the top take it nice and easy! Surprisingly, going downhill that steep was a challenge too and I was wishing I brought open toe sports sandals too. The whole place is a delight. Worth the visit!

Christina H — Google review

My friends and I spent the day on Halifax waterfront. It was gorgeous weather, so the walk along the front was lovely, just looking at the sculptures and chatting to a friendly police officer. We visited Pier 21. The Maritime museum was great, particularly the Titanic exhibition. We did a harbour tour on a small, electronic boat. Unfortunately the brewery was shut that day, but we ate at The BG, which was buzzing that day. Fabulous!

The Halifax Waterfront is a picturesque area located along the harbor in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It features a blend of historic charm and modern attractions, with a bustling boardwalk, scenic views of the water, various shops, restaurants, and cultural landmarks such as the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21.In my review, I highly recommend visiting this place; it's an absolute must-see.

Beautiful walk on the harbour front. Restaurants, ice cream shops, souvenirs, t-shirts and play structures. The art installations along the way are beautiful. Lots of photo ops.

It’s a great place to chill out, taking in the sights. You can access to its long, beautiful boardwalk from ample parking spots nearby. There are many benches to stop, appreciating the Dartmouth skyline with some boats sailing. I, personally, haven’t seen any cruise ships yet, but there are always many things to see. Also, you can always have a variety of options regarding what to eat.

Awesome place to spend hours strolling the boardwalk along the harbourfront. A great selection of shops and pop up tents selling their wares. Ships and sailboats to observe, buskers, face painters, caricaturists, henna artists, etc populate the boardwalk.

Phil V — Google review

Wonderful boardwalk with ships, restaurants, park spaces and great views on clear days. Bring an umbrella regardless of weather; “cloudy” means being in a cloud with drizzling rain, “Sunny” means enough direct sunlight and heat that you’ll be happy for the shade.Boards are close set and smooth enough for a stroller and dogs. Park area has musical instrument stops and activities painted on the ground for kids. Each dock has surprisingly comfortable seats for taking in the view.Enough options for lobster rolls and steamed mussels that you never have to have it now because it’ll be on the menu everywhere. “Cow’s ice cream” was great. “Harbor hopper tours” was fun; not much historic information about Halifax but still a good time and the kids loved it.

Meandering boardwalk, from cruise terminal offering local crafts and souvenirs, bars, restaurants, various memorials and foodstuffs. Ends at the Nova Scotia casino. Nice scenic walk for a couple t shirts.

G S — Google review

The Halifax Waterfront is a great boardwalk with beautiful views around. The ferry station is right there if you want to get to the other side of the harbor. There are locations to get on the local bus or the tour buses that roam the area. There are a lot of places to shop and eat between the Casino and the train station. Overall, the Halifax Waterfront is a beautiful place to spend time with enough around to occupy your day.

Matthew C — Google review

Stopped here on our last day in Nova Scotia. It was very nice and built out. Lots of beautiful views, benches, and even hammocks. I was a little disappointed with how many places were closed on a Sunday evening in October, but maybe I was just too late in the season. I recommend hoping in a ferry ride to get a nice tour of the area for cheap. There were a number of people that seemed to be very drunk walking around which was strange. Other than that, a very nice experience.

Olivia R — Google review

Great walk along the front with plenty of little shops, bars, restaurants & free seating to enjoy the view. Also well maintained during the winter months means it is easily accessible all year round.Well worth a stroll!

Daniel R — Google review

A most interesting place to spend a morning. Great snacking options. The fish and chips at Katch was surprisingly delicious. I say "surprisingly" as I expected it to be too oily. It was far from that.Visiting the couple of ships on display was a peep into the maritime history of Nova Scotia.A ride on the amphibious vehicle was also a very unique experience.

Ranjit S — Google review

There is so much to do and see, give yourself plenty of time and you could spend days there and not see everything. There are things for every age group. The number of restaurants is endless. You will find restaurants for casual cheap dining to high-end restaurants serving the best seafood in the world. There is so much for the kids to do and see. Ice cream that is out of this world especially the fog company and Cows. I know it doesn't sound like ice cream but it is. You can view the tall ships, the Corvette warship, rent jet skis, bike rentals, it is endless. While all this costs money, you can go there on a low budget and still have a great day.

Ardis S — Google review

So, so many things to see and do. I had an awesome lunch, watched live music and saw a cruise ship leave the harbour. I feel like it is such a bustling place that you could spend hours and not get bored. Loved it!

Shannon R — Google review

I was very happy to discover this place. I didn't know about it, nor how long it is. Here you will find many shops, restaurants, bistros, services, monuments, museums, harbors and interesting places. It has a great atmosphere and you should definitely go through it, it's not that long.

Cirrus S — Google review

The Halifax waterfront is a gem, especially on a scorching summer day. There's nothing quite like strolling along the boardwalk, soaking in the sun's rays, and feeling the cool ocean breeze on your skin. One of my favorite activities is grabbing a seat at one of the waterfront restaurants, where you can enjoy a refreshing drink while indulging in delicious food. The ambiance is lively and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind and savor the moment.Adding to the charm of the waterfront are the talented buskers who line the boardwalk, providing a soundtrack to your leisurely afternoon. Their melodies create a vibrant atmosphere, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the experience.Whether you're meeting friends for a casual outing or simply taking some time to relax and unwind, the Halifax waterfront offers a perfect escape. With its stunning views, delectable dining options, and lively entertainment, it's a destination that never disappoints.

Breanna J — Google review

Lovely place to unwind after a day or you can start your day watching an amazing foggy sunrise and enjoying white noise of water and seagulls. Cute photo spots and lots of fresh air. I can recommend also trying out boat tours when you are here.

A good walk with beautiful views, sculptures, shops selling things that appeal to tourists in s couple or markets, memorials to Lebanese immigrants, and Norwegians who lost thier lives in WW2. All very nice. It's an outdoors walk. I went at night and during the day in December. Beautiful.

Hilary P — Google review

My visit was on a warm and sunny day. It felt good, especially because it wasn't that windy. You could bring your meal, sit on the chair and enjoy the nice weather and eat at the same time 🤗

Elham — Google review

This is one of the most beautiful waterfronts i have seen. People may say different but it depends on what you like. Day or night this place has sl much to offer for me. In the evening it comes alive. Great eateries and pubs and then there's always time for a Timmy's (Tim Hortons). At night the twin towers at Purdy's wharf take on a ghostly appearance. Sunsets behind the silhouetted road bridges can be spectacular. A truly wonderful city.

Beautiful place to walk.Winter less people, summer more people.

When the weather is favourable this city centre is attraction the place to be. Comfortable chairs line the waterfront. They are free to use and a great place to sit and contemplate whatever you choose. Numerous food stalls and restaurants provide the hungry with foods from around the world and a range of prices that range from reasonable to ridiculous.Plenty of history to read about on the many storyboards located along the walkways.Well worth the visit and a revisit.

Burntcoat Head Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which features the Joggins Fossil Cliffs. The cliffs are made of limestone and are 300 million years old. The park is full of tidal pools, as well as beaches and trails. It is a great place to explore for nature lovers, who will be fascinated by the fossils that can be found there.

Awesome spot in our province to see the world’s highest tides! Our own Hopewell Rocks! Make sure to time your visit right due to the tides. There’s so much to see and do here.

Andrew J — Google review

Deff come during low tide (high tide is fun too just make sure you bring a jacket) really cool park with a lot of cool history, deff a recommendation

OmegaW0o0lf — Google review

An amazing experience. There is a lot of natural beauty both filled and emptied. The guides are very accommodating and detailed. The most impressive part for me was the speed with which the Bay fills. You can watch the change happen and it is impressive!Definitely worth a trip.

Andrew F — Google review

I came here on a Saturday morning for sunrise. Unfortunately it was too cloudy for any meaningful. Is snow the bed the day before and it felt a little treacherous with some snow cover sections on the roads and I cannot tell in the dark what are there any black ice. There's nobody here other than myself, and the lack of disturbance of the snows suggest that no one had been here recently either. I was met with a fox when I arrived at the park. It quickly scurried away. The snow Addison contrast to what likely would have been a bit of a boring reddish brown ocean floor. I see lots of great photo ops during sunrise and sunset, which unfortunately I did not have time to come back for and the weather was not cooperating.

Eric W — Google review

Completely amazed by the height of the tides! Beautiful landscape to experience. There is so much to see at low tide. Kids were having a blast finding hermit crabs! Definitely wear water shoes to be most comfortable and safe and be sure to keep track of the time because the tides coming in are fast and serious business!! This isn't a place to go swimming!

Michelle M — Google review

This is a MUST SEE location in NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA! You can see the best views of the High and low tides here as well as walk on the ocean floor during low tides. The lighthouse allows you to have an awesome view of the area from its height. Wear appropriate shoes or boots for walking the ocean floor and bring walking sticks if available for stability although not required.

R J — Google review

This place is really good to visit in summer and careful as you walk around little bit slippery. But beautiful

Nimmy J — Google review

We walked the ocean floor at low tide and it was amazing. Great views, beautiful scenery and lots of crabs. We wore water shoes which was the best option. The tides are incredible. The best part is it's free. Just watch where you walk and be careful.

Doug — Google review

The place is very cozy and not crowded with visitors. The history of the lighthouse and the photographs are very interesting. I missed the low tide so I couldn't walk on the ocean floor. But I still saw a lot of beauty.

Dr. B — Google review

This is a MUST DO for visiting Nova Scotia! We went at low-tide and walked on the ocean floor and went in the caves. It was incredible. Don’t worry too much if you didn’t bring the proper footwear, we wore sandals and running shoes. Just be okay with getting them dirty.

Dea H — Google review

A trip out to Nova Scotia is not complete without a visit out to the Bay of Fundy. This park and location was beautiful and picturesque. It was tranquil and serene as you sit and watch the water 💦 slowly rushing back into the bay. You can walk in the floor bed during low tide ( 6-7AM ) and you better be on solid ground by 5PM.There is a lovely gift shop / lighthouse as well here.

Dennis W — Google review

Beautiful views of the changing tides and Bay of Fundy. Recommend getting there at low or mid-low tide when walking is possible on the rocky sea floor. Take care walking as the tides come into the area quickly and could potentially get stranded or cut off from the main stairs to the water.

Apf M — Google review

Incredible. Felt like being on Mars. If you go about 20 minutes to the right of the stairs, there's a mini waterfall and strange grassy field.Definitely be careful of time though. The tide can come in and trap you without notice.

Sarah C — Google review

Don't expect anything fancy. You park, go down the path to the stairs, and then your on the floor of the Bay of Fundy. No vendors or shops. Great way to spend half day on your trip to Halifax. We timed our visit within 1-2 hours of low tide. We walked around marveling at the fact we were walking at nearly 60 feet below high tide. We walked around the base of an entire island. Definately worth the drive to see this. It's 5 stars because it's an awesome natural wonder that your never going to see anywhere else.

Bart B — Google review

Incredible to walk on the ocean floor. Check the tide schedule, you can walk 3h before and after the low tide. If you have the chance to book a sunset tour guide, I suggest you do it. Had a blast and really nice to see the little creatures. Most beautiful sunset ever. You can go up the lighthouse!!!

Jacynthe T — Google review

Wow! Truly amazing. A great place to see.

Dre K — Google review

A very nice place to visit with a beautiful view. Parking and entry is free and they have a decent amount of spaces. They have a small lighthouse/viewpoint that you're allowed to go up to the top in which is very cool. The trails down to the water are quite short and a good distance for all ages. MAKE SURE you don't wear fancy shoes or pants because there WILL be mud once your down by the water. All in all a good place to visit.

Mitchell — Google review

We got to see this place at low tide and then high tide.Since it's the Bay of Fundy - tides are of utmost importance. You need to check and see the tide timings.Parking is free and ample so no cost involved. There is a public washroom there which is clean and easily accessible and visible. They also have a lighthouse where you can go up and see the entire area. It's a steep climb but worth the effort - it's free too.Inside this lighthouse on the walls is a lot of interesting facts too.If you stand at the water long enough you will see the ground disappearing.I have attached pictures for you to see.

The Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum is a museum dedicated to telling the stories of Canadian and international pilots and aviation heroes. It has impressive aircraft, related weaponry, artifacts and simulators.

Amazing experience. It was not a big one but they have an impressive collection of planes in the hanger. You don't have to buy tickets before entry. The museum works on donation. Had a good time.

Jaipreet H — Google review

I came in with my friends to check out the museum, my friends have been here before but I had not been, we were greeted right away and had a good chat, with details about the museum layout, exhibits and the location of services in the building, and offered personalized information for the visit. The museum surprised me with just how many awesome displays they crammed into this space, I unfortunately neglected to take many photos, so you'll have to visit for yourself, it's worth it.Along with the cool historical displays, this museum is also home to a large hobby/model shop, something I never delved into growing up, but they had low prices so I had a nice talk with the gentleman running the model shop, and eventually was tempted to try it out and picked up some cool plane models to build, along with advice from the workers for assembly.Great museum with very passionate and knowledgeable staff, and a cool hobby shop incorporated. I will be visiting again soon.

Tyler P — Google review

Free for July and August, it worth it !A lot of airplanes, helicopters and airplane motors. It was so cool.Planned an hour, easily, to visit the museum. The only negative point is the shop, they don't have enough RCAF stuff 🤷‍♀️

Nathalie L — Google review

Super interesting spot to stop in Halifax/Dartmouth area. Two minutes from the airport. Good parking and washrooms. Excellent volunteer staff (including knowledgeable retired commercial pilots). Large selection of models for sale, new and refurbished.

Art D — Google review

Nice place to go when you wait for flight or just drive by, as it has quite a collection and few visitors there.Learn that Halifax airport took most diverted flights in 911 terror attack. I always thought it was Newfoundland airport but...Bought 3 plane models to support the museum: they have a big collection or inventory of plane models, either for display or for assembly.

Frank W — Google review

One of the highlights of our trip. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. They have an incredible selection of model plane kits. The hangar is beautiful and there is lots to read and explore. Plenty of things for the kids to stay interested too.

Lindsey C — Google review

A really nice museum! Way more to it than appears when driving by. The volunteer who greeted us was nice and friendly, and really knew his stuff. In the future, we would love to see a feature on women in aviation ✈️

Robn K — Google review

Highly recommended for every aviation fan in the area! For its relatively small size with only two hangars, this museum has quite a lot of aircraft to show (more than 20!).A mix between civil and military craft, most from 1960-1980 and also many additional items, pictures and (local) stories. The staff is very friendly and clearly consists of dedicated aviation fans!Entry is for free but donations are very welcome and there is also a huge collection of model aircraft kits to purchase (also very rare ones already out of production).

Malte M — Google review

I wasn't plan to come and it was a last minute idea to kill time. It was an eye opener and we really enjoying looking at all the aviation history. Btw this place is not free and there is an suggested donation of 8 dollar per person.

Uncle C — Google review

Great little museum for aviation buffs. It was on our way to the airport, so stopped in to have a look. Nice collection of airplane history.

Darren W — Google review

It’s free to visit here but they do recommend you to donate $8 per person for the museum’s maintenance and renovations. It’s wonderful to pick one of delicate air-model to master your patience at home. There are tons of air-models for sale with both no tax and 10% off due to non-profits institution. In addition, the museum only open to the public on Saturday. Don’t hurry to buy model on weekdays !😉

Leo L — Google review

What a gem of a place to visit! You could spend hours here reading and exploring. So much to see and do especially in the hanger area.

This place is a hidden treasure! There are some really amazing pieces, the volunteers are lovely and very knowledgeable, and we were pleasantly surprised how kids friendly the whole CT tree

Natasha T — Google review

Great little place filled with tones of planes, plane engines and information. Admission was a donation but it was a great place all the volunteers were so knowledgeable and happy to take their time with you. The museum also has some interactive pieces such as a matching thrilled to look at all the engines on display. Nice gift shop too with lots of model plane kits. Great place to learn all about aviation !!

The wildlife rescue service Hope For Wildlife helps save animals who would otherwise die. They are a wonderful group of people who do amazing work and are very welcoming. When we visited they had a number of animals in their care, including a baby pigeon that had been found on our husband's job site. We are so grateful for their help and can't recommend them enough!

We got to experience one of their lovely open house days and I can't say enough wonderful things about the amazing work they do and the wonderful people who help make it happen. We were lucky enough to meet Hope who is just so sweet and kind. A few weeks later my husband found a lone baby pigeon and was able to call in Hope for Wildlife to come to its rescue. Without them the poor baby would have died. We are so grateful for the service they do. (The final photo I added is of the baby pigeon found at my husband's job site. He is now safe with Hope.)

The park is home to moose, foxes, beavers, wolves, black bears, and cougars. Visitors can enjoy informative displays about hooved mammals, canids, and cats while taking a leisurely walk under the trees.

An amazing place to see wildlife animals and to have some nature walks. The park map was easy to follow. We didn’t visit the wetlands and spent two hours in the main part. Today was burning hot but we were still lucky to see almost all the animals like otter, beavers, red deer, elk, bobcat, etc.. The beavers are insanely cute and super active. Definitely worth visiting!

Shubenacadie Wildlife Park is a fantastic destination for families, nature lovers, and anyone interested in learning more about local wildlife. It’s a very small park with limited animals, it can be covered in a couple of hrs. On an 45 min drive from Halifax, good spot for a weekend trip. Kids loved the park. The walking paths are well-maintained, making it a pleasant experience for visitors of all ages. There are plenty of picnic areas and shaded spots, which make it easy to take a break and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Ravikant A — Google review

A real hidden gem for some outdoor activities. Many animals to see fairly close up. Interpretive centre and signage geared to young kids. A wetland trail which probably is best early or late in the day. Clean washrooms and the trails are well kept.Despite the name it is a zoo for some of the animals. I’m sure the cougar would rather be out in the wild. No dogs allowed so make arrangements accordingly. We really enjoyed a morning there.

Don C — Google review

Such a nice spot to visit! We spent 2 hours here and there is still so much more to explore. The only thing is that we did not see the moose. :( Highly recommend.

Me and my parents had a blast with the B trip, having at least 4 rounds of tidal bore fun before going mudsliding! I had never heard of mudsliding until we got to that mud covered beach but it was hilarious and surprisingly easy to slip down one of the self carved slopes and belly flop into cool water. I would recommend sitting at the front of the boat for the best experience (splash zone!) during the ride!

We had a great day on the water today! Lucked out with some big waves after the recent lunar activity. Beth our guide was knowledgeable, energetic and friendly. When it was over our 11 year old asked if we could go again tomorrow! It won’t be tomorrow but we will be back.

Gotdamm this is an amazing activity! The owner is super friendly and knowledgeable, and so are the staff. This company goes earlier, stays later, and seems to have the best waves, and sense of timing. They are super fun, and probably should charge more than the competition, mostly because they are that much better.Fred, I hope you read this, not only are you fun but your amazing. You made it extra fun, and were certainly very down to earth. The only complaint I have is the water….. it’s too brown. Oh and the mud, it’s too dirty.

The path to the falls is beautiful and there are many trails if you like hiking. This place would make for a wonderful pre wedding shoot location.

Visited in April so there was still some snow on the ground. The path to get to the falls is beautiful. There are many trails if you like hiking. This place would make for a wonderful pre wedding shoot location. Jacob’s

Victoria Park is a true gem in the heart of the city. The lush green trees and beautiful waterfalls create a peaceful oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of daily life. I always feel rejuvenated after a visit to this park and highly recommend it to anyone in need of a little nature therapy. The walking trails are well-maintained and offer a variety of scenic routes to choose from. Overall, Victoria Park is a must-see for anyone visiting the area.

This is one of the greatest parks in the area and (in our opinion) the province - it just has so many amazing features like: hills, lookouts, staircases, gazebos, waterfalls, gorges, creeks and rivers, numerous trails, picnic areas, exercise area, and sports/play fields! Definitely worth visiting multiple times just due to the amount of various activities possible.

One of the most beautiful parks in Nova Scotia. Almost has a B.C vibe. Trails are tight in some places so keep a good grip on your dogs.

This park is about 130 years old. It’s a beautiful well maintained urban woodland park spans across 3000 acres. It has many boardwalks. These boardwalks make waterfalls Waddell and Howe are easily accessible and provide an exciting backdrop for photos of family and friends. It has washrooms but this park is not very wheelchair friendly.Very tall pine trees and lots of squirrels and birds. It has a good parking lot and many entrances. If you are looking for some workout, you might wanna check out Jacob's ladder(147 steps) and some pull up bars at the top. All steps aren't the same size. It is open all year, but late spring and early summer would be ideal time to visit this park, as water levels would be at its highest. It is about a one and half hour drive from downtown Halifax. It's a beautiful and dynamic urban park. I love it for its natural features, including a dramatic steep-sided gorge, a winding river, cascading waterfalls, and a stately old-growth Eastern Hemlock forest. This place offers endless recreational, cultural and leisure opportunities. These include hiking, photography, birdwatching, day picnics, family gatherings, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, swimming, baseball, cultural events, live music, tennis, cycling and more.If you are in Nova Scotia, and if you are a nature lover, I highly recommend going there.

Nishtha R — Google review

Very well kept, be prepared for a lot of stairs if you want to explore the whole park. A lot of different trails you can explore. Cannot believe how beautiful and well kept the overall park is for the amount of people who visit. Climbing the stairs and walking along the trails up top have awesome views rather than just walking down below. Atleast two waterfalls to be seen as well.

Enjoyed the hike despite the cloudy drizzling weather. Visited Joe Howe Falls, the Waddell Falls and Wood Street Lookout. The path to Five Corners was closed today, so we didn’t get to see it. If we visit Truro again next time, we will come back to the park to explore the other areas.BTW, we were lucky to come across two deers during our hiking.

Nice park to take family or friends for the weekends or holidays. There are lots of play activities for the kids and the adults as well. There are some water falls along the park where the views are stunning but be careful of falling debre or trees. Good place for doing barbecue whilst enjoying the nature around.

This is one of the most beautiful places to go to in Nova ScotiaI felt serene peace visiting here for the first timeI am someone who loves walking in the nature and thus place was perfect for me to read a boom, listen to soothing music, to meditate, to just get lost in the wilderness of natureI took so many pictures to remember this placeI can’t recommend this enoughI’ll definitely visit here again

This park turned out to be a real find on the way to Halifax. Big park where you can spend the whole day. The waterfalls were almost without water due to the dry season. But the area is very beautiful, well-groomed, with beautiful paths and stairs.

Excellent place for one day family trip. My kid enjoyed being there. I would say day spent well. Ample parking, maintained well. Toilets can be better.

Sathish S — Google review

Family came to visit and we heard good reviews about Victoria Park and decided to spend the morning. This park was very beautiful and quiet with scenic trails and wildlife. Wasn’t expecting to see waterfalls either! Really enjoyed the park and will be returning!

Dre — Google review

I did not expect this place to be so amazing because it’s in the middle of the city! They have tons of trails and they were pretty easy to navigate, well maintained so you can easily spend a whole day here. There are picnic tables out in front and some places to set up inside the park as well. I loved the loops and the hikes. They were unique despite being in the middle of an urban area. Must try the loop around the dam. 5/5 recommend. It also has a biking trail but we didn’t go on it.

Lei A — Google review

Fantastic Park.Spent the day there and it was Fantastic. We got to see a lot of different trails and waterfalls.

William D — Google review

This place is Truro's best kept secret! What a lovely park with some lovely views of waterfalls. There are so many trail options that you could spend hours here. A few of the trails were damaged earlier this year in heavy rains so they were closed off until they can repair them, but even so, it was worth the time we took to stop and explore here. They also had lots of washrooms. Some of the stairs are a bit steep but they're not too bad if you just go slow and take your time.

Alisha G — Google review

Lovely park with waterfalls, hiking trails, a playground for kids, and lots of greenery. Short walk to the waterfalls that is mostly accessible, just near the end there are a few tree roots that make it a bit more challenging for pushing a stroller. Waterfalls are pretty nice, not the biggest in the world but fun to see. The kids playground has a lot of nice swings including an adult and child swing so you can swing together with your kiddo. Lots of parking here, bathrooms, and spots to picnic.

Marta B — Google review

This wonderful park, which has a beautiful stream and waterfalls, is perfect for a hike. While the damage from last year's post-tropical storm Fiona is still visible (see some of the pictures below), the gorgeous greenery is still quite impressive. You can also find a children's playground, tennis courts, baseball diamond, and outdoor pool at Victoria Park.

James C — Google review

RECOMMENDATIONS. It's a beautiful place. There is a lot of trails and benches.

Maria K — Google review

Great place for trails. Amazing atmosphere and best place for picnic.

Pal R — Google review

Truly a beautiful park, all the boardwalks everywhere remind me of vancouver island. There is a ton of awesome trails to hike, multiple waterfalls and several neat bridges to cross! We come here with our dog all the time and have had no issues with anyone. Parking is never a problem either. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Mack B — Google review

Lovely park with no entry fee. You can get to the falls if you walk all the way to the end and avoid the stairs. The water looks pristine. Near the falls, you can actually go for a swim if you'd like. They just advise against diving or jumping.Note that the stairs are a single beam of wood. These are very thin stairs. Take your time going up and down. There are plenty of benches located throughout the park, so don't worry about needing to find a spot to catch your breath or to eat a snack.

Jost Vineyards, located on Northumberland Shore near Tatamagouche, is the largest and oldest winery in the province. It has won multiple awards and offers a variety of activities such as tastings, tours, meals at Seagrape Cafe, hikes or bike rides through the vines, and monthly events. In addition to its physical location, Jost Vineyards also offers online shopping with free shipping within the Maritimes and reduced rates elsewhere in Canada.

This was a hidden gem on our trip. Was an extremely warm September lunch time and visited here hoping for a break from the heat. Impressive store and tasting room - with individual introductions to the vineyard and its products. We then headed outside on the porch for lunch. Food was great albeit a bit expensive. Note that some of our pictures have a red cast due to the strong sunshine coming through the red tent.Took some wine and drinks to go which was nice to have throughout the rest of our trip - none of it made it all the way home!

Coming back for more of the BEST seafood chowder in Canada !We visited this place by accident 3 years ago on our way to PEI. Decided on a small lunch of chowder. The delicacy, flavour and content was so exquisite that we renamed their dish seafood with a bit of chowder. The excellent facility and wines offered are worth a side trip off the main highways.

Prioritizes their profit over quality for their customers.I ordered 12 bottles of wine through their online shop. 6/12 bottles had the cork pop out and they leaked everywhere (prior to me picking up). I emailed customer service. They told me I should have monitored the temp across Canada when I ordered and would not resend or refund the ruined wine. I live in Duncan BC, which rarely goes below freezing. I did not see this note on their site but as they were advertising wine shipments across Canada I assumed they knew what they were doing and it would be okay. I’ve shipped live lobster and my family have sent out numerous packages of liquids from NS without any problems (in the winter months as well). I was so disappointed with the lack of support from their customer service. We emailed back and forth once but then I received no reply. Very careless. In my opinion the warning was not clear, they either shouldn’t be shipping in the winter and/or should put a recommendation to NOT order within Canada in the winter. It seems like they prioritized profit over their customers. I won’t be ordering again. If you are planning to order I HIGHLY recommend not ordering through the winter.

What a lovely vineyard! The wine is great but the experience was even better. They have a lovely cafe attached with plenty of seating inside and out. the menu has lots of offer and everything pairs well with all the tasty wine. Staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. We will definitely be returning.Update: returned and even when it's busy, staff here are great!

Had wine, lobster sliders and the brownie. The wine was delicious and worth the price but the food while tasty was over priced and small. We were well greeted and service was excellent. Additionally dogs were welcomed on the patio and provided with a bowl of water. The venue makes for a pleasant afternoon.

This winery was a bit hard to find but is well worth the visit. We spent some time in the tasting room and enjoyed a nice dinner on the patio. It was almost closing time so it was not too busy. Friendly staff too.

I had no idea this place existed. A local escape. Went for a bottle of wine and snacks. Charcuterie board had lots of cheese. Lobster sliders were fresh and the side salad was the bomb. The atmosphere and service were great. Come early as people were getting turned away an hour before closing

Such a great place to sit back and enjoy a few beers! Atmosphere is amazing and staff are friendly! Will visit again! Also love the fact that you can choose six different beers in a flight!

Cody L — Google review

Staying in the area a few weeks (from Edmonton), “home base” exploring all of Nova Scotia, PEI, NB. First had Deception Bay IPA at Wooden Monkey in Halifax (so cute, yummy pub food, great staff, check them out) and was stoked to visit and try other brews IRL. Everyone (I mean EVERYONE) inside is sooo friendly, knowledgeable and funny. On top of that — they make a stout I don’t actually mind! 😝 Seriously though, had a flight of 6 for $12 and each one I would drink again. Great atmosphere, cute town, nice patio. Only thing missing is food! 🙃 Maybe someday. Well worth it regardless for very tasty beer.

Craft Beer. Yummm! Stopped here just to purchase some unique brews like stouts and red ale of which I am a fan. Friendly staff and good selection.Right in town across from the post office.Excellent flavours of the smooth stout, strong alcohol content of the imperial stout and perfect taste of the red ale. Thanks. Too bad you are not in Ontario.

Excellent beer, and service! Thoughtful and helpful staff make these *extremely difficult* times more manageable. Room for about 10 groups to sit and enjoy beers on tap, plus cans, bottles, and pre-filled growlers to enjoy at home or at the beach. Our favourite part of visiting Tata!

Chris M — Google review

Just store stopped in and enjoyed six Hierlihy (Irish Stout). A wonderful full body stout with coffee notes and caramel. Highly recommend this seasonal beer during those long cold fall and winter evenings. Nice merchandise and reasonable prices. Friendly staff as well!

Fantastic Brewery! Staff are excellent. All the beers are very good. The tap room is very clean with lots of merchandise. The patio has loads of space for those summer nights. It's definitely one of Nova Scotia's best craft beer spots

I finally went last Sunday for the first time and why oh why did I waited so long to go! The best IPA and I was surprised by the size of the flight! Huge! Service was amazing, location is perfect! It’s just too bad it’s almost 2hrs drive from home. But problem solved: I just placed an order online! Come to mama my little IPA’s! Free shipping over 95$ in Atlantic region! Honestly I can’t wait to go back! It’s worth the drive!

Awesome Brewery, taps were fresh and cans were bold and tasty.I was quite happy to come across this while chasing waterfalls in the area. Definitely one of the nicer breweries I've seen with an awesome patio. It's located within a small and active town. Totally had that friendly Canadian vibe to it.

The beer was yummy. The atmosphere was fabulous with indoor and outdoor seating. Don’t go hungry because there’s not much to eat.

K P — Google review

Stopped in for a flight. Staff were very friendly and helpful picking out the best 6 choices from the menu. Patio is nice too overlooking the street in the afternoon sun. We were rather disappointed with the beer however and neither one of us finished our glasses. The stout was very nice and so was the red ale, but the others had a strong aftertaste.

Seafoam Lavender Company & Gardens, located in Seafoam, Nova Scotia, is a serene lavender farm offering a picturesque setting for visitors. The farm not only sells lavender teas and shortbread cookies but also offers an array of handmade products such as oils, soaps, body balms, face creams, and scents. Visitors can enjoy walking among the honey bees and the lavender plants while capturing stunning photographs.

Took a road trip up along the Sunshine Trail and happened upon this little gem of a spot. Highly recommend visiting if you find yourself in that beautiful part of the province! The shop smelled incredible and I found an array of lavender goodies. I'm actually excited to learn they have a shop here at home, at the Halifax Farmer's Market 🙂

Such a serene experience being able to walk among the honey bees and the lavender plants. A great spot to snap some gorgeous pictures if you're into photography like myself. As soon as we stepped out of the car we were greeted by a lovely staff member who welcomed us and gave us a small rundown on where everything was located. The parking is great, some shady spots to sit and enjoy the view as well as some other benches/chairs set up around the property. The small shop was stocked full of mouth watering lavender products and they have testers out ready to be used. Got a balm, fresh dried lavender, mango spice tea, chai tea, and the insanely gorgeous hand woven lavender tote bag, I could not leave without the bag. Already tried the teas at home, delicious flavours with a tiny hint of fresh lavender right from the fields. We did miss out on lavender honey which I was so sad about cause I'm obsessed with honey but the beautiful views, kind staff, and feeling of pure bliss made up for it. Highly recommend!!!!!!

Affordable family fun. We live about 20 minutes away and went for the first time this summer. It’s very beautiful and relaxing. For 7$ you can get a lot of lavender. Hector Heritage Quay Interpretation Centre is a significant living history attraction in Nova Scotia, showcasing the pivotal role of Ship Hector in the 18th-century Scottish migration to the New World. This site highlights Pictou as the Birthplace of New Scotland and offers insights into Canada's Scottish heritage. Visitors can delve into the history of the 189 Scottish Highlanders who arrived on Ship Hector at Browns Point in Pictou Harbor, seeking a new life in North America.

They offer a lot of information about the first settlers in Novascotia. Their life style, the materials they used. The spectacular view of the first ship landed in Nova scotia the the prime attraction of this place.

Nithin M — Google review

Fantastic setup and displays. Lots of information to read and learn about life of the settlers before they came over, and the harsh trip across the ocean to a hard life in the new world. Seeing the ship being restored is a once in a lifetime experience.

Carolyn — Google review

Nice museum outlining the history of a historic voyage to Nova Scotia. It describes things well and underscores the importance of this trip for the history of Nova Scotia. Unfortunately a lightning strike hit the mast and ruined a good portion of the boat. I have seen it in better days, see pictures in other reviews, but was saddened to its state now. Work has been set back a lot.

Frans S — Google review

Very charming waterfront restoration project including the reconstruction of a ship used to bring in the original settlers. Great opportunity to support saving our history and heritage.

Rod M — Google review

Seeing this beautiful ship and the excellent museum is a must whether you're a visitor from the States like me or a Canadian. The immense size of this magnificent ship must be seen to be appreciated. And the art of shipbuilding is alive and well in Pictou. The staff in the gift shop was great....They're knowledgeable....friendly...and proud of the Hector. It was my privilege to spend the day there.

Brenda R — Google review

Love the museum and the history. They had actors playing parts of the people on the ships and the ship itself was such an education. Outside the grounds, you can find a monument to the Scottish travellers who arrived on the ship and started their lives in Nova Scotia, encouraging other Scots to follow in their paths. Very fun and educational to visit while in Pictou.

Krista W — Google review

An amazing part of history here, very near and dear to the local community. A shame they didn't keep up with the replica ship. When I was here 10 years ago it was afloat in the water and you got to check it out. Really brought to light what our ancestors faced coming to the new land.

Hollie H — Google review

Recreation of the first Scottish immigrants who weekend the freedoms to preserve their cultural heritage and a better life in the new world. The ship landed in Pictou where the site is. You get a chance to see how they endured the hardship during the voyage. 189 persons cramped in the vessel more than 2 months in the rough sea. Sadly this recreation of the Hector now has shown sign of wood rot and will need a major restoration soon

Somkietr R — Google review

The board walk around the nautical museum, is picturesque even under cloudy skies. The museum itself is well maintained and includes a tour of "the Hector," a replica boat that brought the first immigrants over from Scotland. One can also visit the workshops of the blacksmiths and carpenters involved in building the replica. I was amazed at the craft- menship of the wood carvings, really beautiful. The only drawback is the odour in the air outside, along the board walk. It could be the pulp mill across the water ruining the experience .

K. T — Google review

Small museum which describes in good detail the history of the first Scottish people in Nova Scotia. Good to spend 1-2 hours with family. The ship itself is overrated.

During our three week trip with RV in Nova Scotia this was one of the best campgrounds. We had site 9 in loop A with power and had a view on the ocean. Lots of free space to play. Quiet. Beautiful beach with little people and clear water is 100m away. Dumping station and fresh water also available. If you can bring your own wood instead of paying 5 dollar for some sticks (like everywhere in NS).

Andreas G — Google review

Just went for an afternoon at the beach on a Wednesday in July. Easy to get to, with wheelchair access to the edge beach, but no solid boardwalk for chairs to get onto the beach. Plenty of people there, but not crowded. Sand was soft, but had a lot of seaweed and shells. Water was ice cold, even at the end of July. Would go here again to enjoy the sand and sun.

mselneous — Google review

Very nice park. The beach is beautiful and the water clear and warm. I found all the facilities very clean and the staff friendly. A little more signage to the path to the beach would have been appreciated since I was unfamiliar with the park but I know for next time.

Sandy R — Google review

Beautiful campground, the campsites are very spacious. The place is nice and the beach is beautiful. I even had the chance to see a seal poke its head out of the water. My only con is the toilets and showers that really need some renovations. Other than that, it was perfect!

Emilie B — Google review

Well maintained Provincial park, active crews attending to maintenance and security into the evening. Flush toilets and showers in a dated facility but are really kept nice and clean. The beach is close enough to walk to from Loop A and is beautiful. Being late July, we found the water at the beach to be very cold. Close to Pictou for picking up supplies and sightseeing.

Always a beautiful place for a walk on the beach. Plenty of parking and it is clean. Peaceful. 💖

Marie-Claude P — Google review

Love visiting Caribou park, there is plenty of green space for picnics, a camping area for RV's and tenting, and a pristine beach just a short walk from the parking area. Besides the stairway to get to the beach, there is also an unpaved ramp for those who can't do stairs. There are outhouses on site as well in case you need to make a quick pit stop.

Ashley C — Google review

Very nice park that is located along a beautiful stretch of coastline. It has a very nice and long sandy beach that rivals many other places. The sites are overall well sized, especially those with electric and water. Only site 30 is tight for larger trailers and a vehicle. The washroom with showers was very clean, they clean them hourly! However, for a park this size one building with washroom and showers is definitely not enough. Especially if you are in a different loop you are a bit out of luck if you don’t have your own bathroom as even the number of outhouses is low. But they do have cooking shelters which is nice in case the weather is not as great.

Frans S — Google review

Beautiful campground. Staff are friendly. Office was open until 10pm which was really convenient. Our first time camping and we're not disappointed. We stayed at site #1. We definitely would come back, but booking at Caribou-Munroes was really very crucial this year.

Quick and efficient. They got everybody loaded on board and departed precisely on schedule. Once on board the food service folks got us our order in no time at all. The passenger seating is spacious with large windows for great views of the Northumberland straight. There was a pretty stiff northeast wind blowing on our crossing so the ship was rolling gently side to side. Crossing conditions may vary greatly though. Arrived ahead of schedule and unloaded as quickly as we loaded. Great experience all around!

We had a pleasant ferry trip. No delays, no inconveniences, all good. The ferries are quite huge and have several decks for motorcycles, cars, SUVs, pickups, lorries and big trucks. On board you can buy something to eat, sit and watch the panorama or walk around (also outside).

I've always loved taking the ferries between PEI and NS from the time that I was child travelling with my parents to adulthood and as a Professional Truck Driver for 30 years, it was always a nice little break from the road and have a meal with a hot cup of coffee, little did I know that I would eventually become an employee. I have been working at Northumberland Ferries now for 6 years and I really enjoy the company, the ships, and the amazing coworkers that I have the privilege of working alongside of everyday.Sure the bridge is there now for those who just want to get from point A to B and back again, but to travel on-board a ship of over 5000 tons of displacement is the ultimate maritime experience and rest assured, all crew members are trained Fire Fighters with extensive training at emergency drills twice per week, so you are certainly in good hands with these well trained professional ferry operators.

Trip this time was not so good, the top passenger deck is closed off so they only have the restaurant area open and no dog allowed. It's to cold to be outside.

Sydney R — Google review

Perfect experience. We reserved the spot online to be safe. There were not much traffic onboarding today on a weekday. No delays and hassles at all. The tables and seats make me feel like being back to school. Everything met expectation. I had fido cellular service available all along the route. The only different thing I noticed was that the access to the car will be blocked during the crossing compared to BC Ferries.

Travelled PEI - Nova scotia and it's a great ferry experience.Loading cars, trucks on this ferry is amazingly fast. Great crew & cafeteria.Recommended !!!

BLESSON S — Google review

People who want to travel to and from PEI can take use of a great service offered by Woods Island, PEI, which significantly reduces drive time as well as energy.Make sure there are ferry operations accessible prior you travelling; hassle-free travel is preferable.

We were aboard a different ferry going to PEI than coming back. The first ferry may have been older. The passage was cancelled on the day we wanted to go, but we got there next morning.WOW, that first ride was bumpy, so much so that another passenger remarked, "We hit a whale that time!" It was choppy outside, and hard to keep our balance. We made it in one piece, though! The returning ferry was the newer bigger one. The ride rocked back and forth, was dizzying. At least we had a place to sit! I could get some pictures of the decks outside that time. So cool!I wasn't happy that we couldn't take the elevator to our car, since it hurts the knees going up or down all those stairs. They just need to add clear signage of what the elevators are for, and which side to be on for certain parking areas.Still, what a cool trip! I recommend the ferry, and should it be cancelled, there are cabins and other lodging nearby in Pictou. Try Lionstone!

Jasmine W — Google review

We chose to ride the ferry for the experience. You can pay just to walk on and not being your car. There is a small cafe on board. We enjoyed, salad, sausages, and more. The view was enjoyable standing on the front of the ferry, although very windy.

LaDonna H — Google review

Whether you need to cross the ocean to the island or not. Such nice crew on the ferry!!! We just go round trip for fun same day. Love it love it, food is so good and Cows ice cream is the best. Live music too!!! It's a nice mini boat cruise I say 75mins one way. 85 bucks for the car, 22 for passenger only round trip. It's good price. Everyone seems quite happy working there. Northumberland, thank you so so much!!! Coming back!!!

Cape Bear Lighthouse and Marconi Station, located near Murray Harbour in Prince Edward Island, is one of the seven lighthouses on the island that visitors can explore. It holds historical significance as it was the first Canadian land station to receive distress signals from the Titanic. The lighthouse features an interpretative center with exhibits on its history and connection to the Titanic, as well as a gift shop offering local crafts.

Must go and see. This is the lighthouse that was first to respond to the Titanic. It has been moved from its original location but still worth seeing. The scenery is breathtaking.

Christine H — Google review

The lighthouse is located in a beautiful area of pei. There was lots to see including the seals swimming just below the lighthouse. They could be viewed from both the top of the lighthouse or from below. The gift shop had locally made crafts and the people running both the lighthouse and gift shop were very friendly.

Beautiful Spot. Very peaceful with wonderful views.

It's so beautiful here. You can park and walk on the premises. Such a beautiful spot to take pictures. Fiona took out some of the trees so clean up is required. But one of my favorite spits for pics.

Candace B — Google review

Absolutely a must see historical site. I went right to the top of the Lighthouse. Saw many pictures and learned some amazing history.

Our favorite little stop for a nice viewpoint, welcoming host and felt at ease.

Great lighthouse visit. Easy to find and lots of parking. Staff was very interested in telling all about the interesting history of this place, and of course, we were all ears.If you are a Titantic buff, then by all means, visit this place and learn how it is connected to this ship.Coming in here with a large motorhome might be a problem if they are busy.

Kenneth D — Google review

Very beautiful lighthouse with a smaller landscape than some of the other lighthouses on the east side of the island. Rich in history and was the first light house that received radio distress signal from the titanic!

Cape Bear Lighthouse is located near Murray Harbour and is one of 7 lighthouses on PEI that you can go inside and climb to the top. It’s an important one because it was the first Canadian lighthouses to respond to the Titanic distress signal. They have information inside as you tour about it. The Marconi station is going to be renovated and moved to the site one day. The lighthouse has a great gift shop with lots of local crafts. Staff our wonderful, chatty and with great local stories too. It’s a short drive from Woods Island Ferry which also has lighthouse you can climb. Highly recommend!

Wonderful rustic and historically significant location. This is the second time I have been here, thought I would get better photos this time, but it was a little cloudy. It is still a nice place to visit.

Reed R — Google review

Amazing experience. You can pay $5 for a short 10-15 min tour of the inside of the light house. It was a really cool experience to hear a little bit of history and see the amazing view.

Unfortunately closed temporarily due to Covid, however, you can still walk around and take photos of thd scenic beaches below...continue driving past the lighthouse along the dirt road for some more scenic photos. Worth the drive.

Sherbrooke Village, located east of Halifax, offers a glimpse into the bustling life of a 19th-century village centered around timber, tall ships, and the gold rush. With 25 original buildings along the St. Marys River, visitors can immerse themselves in pre-1900s living. Costumed interpreters showcase various crafts like blacksmithing and weaving while allowing guests to try their hand at these skills.

Great place to bring the family and spend the day. You can dress in period costume and have tons of fun. There is a restaurant on site for lunch and tons of buildings to explore. Local artisans work in front of your eyes and thier crafts are for sale in the gift shop. Most amazing of all is old fashioned Christmas it is a must go, no matter where your from. There is also a motorcycle run weekend, a car show weekend and concerts by amazing musicians.

David J — Google review

Very interesting village, set in 1840's. These are original buildings, refurbished to reflect the time period. Potter, Chair maker, blacksmith, weaver , candle maker, school teacher, wife, photographer, ...all reinactors to explain their occupations and the times.

Marv B — Google review

Absolutely loved it. So many different buildings to go through, all staffed with very knowledgeable and talented individuals demonstrating how things were done/made back in the 1800s such as pottery, printing, woodturning, blacksmith etc. Buildings are authentic and actually in their original locations. I was very impressed with the village, and how friendly and informative everyone was. The Canada Day parade was really fun too, and I loved how it went right through the village! We look forward to returning!

Ingrid N — Google review

A total gem off the beaten path but so worthwhile to go visit!! We had so much fun here interacting with and learning from the villagers who dress and act like people who used to live in Sherbrooke in the mid 1800's. One of the highlights of our trip to Nova Scotia!

Annita N — Google review

If you have a biracial or black family, I suggest skipping it. We specifically picked Sherbrooke to take our god children to because it offered a dress up experience. You could pay an extra fee and dress up in period clothes for the day.Despite calling in advance, despite having a staff member available, despite advertising the experience online and no appointments for the day, we were told that we could not dress up because only one staff member was available. From the moment the dressing lady saw our biracial family the excuses began. She gave the kids the up and down look over, then looked at me and my husband with disgust. We were told to go back to the front office and make an appointment . So we went back and attempted to book an appointment. One kind lady at the front desk said absolutely, let them pay and send then over for the experience. I was shown the apt book that showed zero appointments for the day.Despite the one customer service rep saying it was not a problem, the other lady started with the excuses. She said she can’t book an appointment without talking to the lady in the dressing house first. She was calling all around but couldn’t reach anyone. She said she wouldn’t take our payment until she confirmed with the lady in the dressing house that she would accommodate us. Since the lady in the dressing house wasn’t answering the phone, we were told to follow her back to the dressing house and wait outside. After some time, the front desk lady returned and said “we can’t help you. We only have 1 lady working here and she can’t dress four people.” Now keep in mind, our littlest godchild, did not want to dress up. So they were saying that 1 lady could not help dress a 6 year and two adults with a open schedule. They did not offer to only dress the child but outright refused. Then the front desk lady asked if we could return tomorrow. She already knew we drove from Ontario. Not to mention, the park is closed Tues and Wednesdays. My heart was breaking because I have my biracial godchildren holding my hands throughout this whole experience. They are seeing the looks from the clearly racist staff members unwilling to allow us to buy the dress up experience. The oldest unfortunately appeared to already understand what was happening. She at 6 years old is already fully aware of racism and is stronger and more resilient than me. I eventually ended up hiding in the washroom in tears at what was happening. We tried to shake it off and enjoy the other exhibits as we waited for my long time friend to arrive with her family. We drove almost 3 hour from Halifax to visit Sherbrooke Village. While in the park, we visited the bakery where the family before us was offered and accepted some baked goods! We walked in with now 5 kids since my friends arrived and cookies were coming out of the oven. We asked if the kids could have a cookie & were told: “no, they were too hot”. At the end of our visit, we were approach by the manager who offered to dress all 4 of us now and give us a free $80 picture. She apologized but still claimed they didn’t have the capacity to dress us.How can they dress 4 people for a photo in the same period clothes now, later in the day, when it’s busier, with the same one staff member - who refused to help us? I told her I believed her staff were racist and refused to help us because our family was biracial. I told her we were not interested in the free photo. The manager did not seem to care. She said sorry and “I hope you have a nice day.”If you are thinking about visiting this establishment this was our experience.

The Village is fantastic. The staff all working together this last summer was such a wonderful service. The activities for both children and adults was amazing. We were lucky enough to be present on the day of a dog show as well as the Saturday market, which were both lovely surprises. The food in their café was fabulous, and the service was tremendous. We enjoyed exploring all the buildings and talking to the staff about the Village. Can't say enough good things. We will definitely be back.

We took a day trip on our vacation stay at Liscombe Lodge and had an amazing experience. We have visited a few times in the past but I must say this time it was over the top special. Every shop we went into was in full theatrical mode, the stories, the dress, the staff were on point. Huge shout out to the Temperance ladies, the store keeper, the saw mill gents and the black smith shop who sent us home with a special gift as they put their craft on display.

Fantastic experience!!! Great little village and an incredibly friendly staff. I went with my wife, our two kids, my father in law, and his wife. We enjoyed every minute of our tour and learning about the history of Sherbrooke Village and the surrounding area. The exhibits were great and the gift shop sold stuff made in the village using the techniques and equipment that was used back in the day. Loved it, highly recommend it!!

Old Barn Galleries, Gardens, Decor & Antiques is a charming shop located at Beaver Dam Farm in Antigonish. The gallery showcases an array of art including paintings, sculpture, antiques, folk art, and fabric art. Visitors can also find vintage quilts and linens, antique hooked rugs, wood turnings, and handmade rustic furniture. The owner Carol's impressive impressionist style paintings are a highlight along with works by four other artists.

This place is a hidden gem! Beautiful artwork by local artists including Carol (aka Naveta), the knowledgeable owner. She took us around, telling us the history of the farm and the artwork the buildings contained. There are also some antiques for sale. Artwork is reasonably priced; we bought three pieces.

A hidden treasure, a welcoming host, a charming spot. Art, artifacts, beautiful garden... I enjoyed chatting with the artist in residence, touring the gallery and learning about the various pieces.

Don't miss Rodney Tate's photos! He is such an amazing photographer! We tried our best to narrow it down to two finally, as we were exceeding our luggage weight limit. He is super nice and chill. I love the animal photos he took, and his enormous effort in all seasons to catch them, as a photography lover, I understand how hard it is. Good job Rodney!

Sewer C — Google review

This is an interesting shop. The owner, Carol has lots of cool paintings in impressionist style. 4 other artists have works there, too. Next door in the carriage house holds works by wildlife photography, Ron. Each gave us back stories to their work and were interesting to talk with. The garden they have created is beautiful. Lots of different types of plants and statues.

Absolutely a breathtaking spot on top of the cliff overlooking the open ocean and Northumberland strait. Has a few picnic tables and benches to sit on so good for eating out. Go very slow after turning off from the main road up to the lighthouse. A little tight and twisty unpaved road. Good parking space.

It was good to have all this material as there are a lot of areas with no cell phone service around the Island and the Cabot Trail in which all those maps / guides were a great tool. Thank you guys for making my trip to your beautiful island and nice memory!

Stopped here twice, entering Cape Breton and then, 3 days later, as we were leaving. Both times we were met by the nicest people going above and beyond to help. Going, they provided us with valuable information on the status of damage to the Cabot Trail. They also reached into a back file cabinet and gave us a list of car charging stations. Leaving, they called ahead to a place in Antigonish to secure oat cakes for us. These are people who just love what they do.

The Celtic Music Interpretive Centre is a captivating destination on Cape Breton Island that offers an immersive experience for visitors interested in the significance of Celtic music. The center features interactive exhibits, historical information, and hands-on opportunities with various instruments, including the fiddle. Guests can also explore vintage instruments, learn about different music genres, study Gaelic, and even try traditional dances.

August 28, 2023 UPDATE: We had a great lunch at the Celtic Music Centre this afternoon! The seafood chowder, served with a warm tea biscuit was "delicious", the spinach salad was fresh and tasty ... and the turtle cheesecake divine (the slice was not too large, not too small ... just right). Really enjoyed the live music by Donna Marie DeWolfe (fiddler) and Amanda MacDougall (piano). Our server was lovely and we were greeted with a welcoming smile!August 27, 2021 - I had a wonderful dining and music experience at Judique’s unique Celtic Music Centre (CMIC) on Friday, August 27, 2021. Everything on the menu looked tempting, so I opted for the “Piper’s Burger” with a side of fries (photo). The meal was generous ... and delicious (I especially appreciated the option to select a gluten-free hamburger bun).During my dining time at the centre, I enjoyed their “Lunch Time Ceilidh” featuring well-known local musicians Shelly Campbell and Cathy Hawley (photo). After lunch I visited the gift store (photos) and took a little tour of the interactive exhibit room that highlights the history of Cape Breton music (photos). The Ceilidh Pub staff were friendly, warm and fun! (photo).Overall, the Celtic Music Centre is a grand place to visit for great food, wonderful music, a lovely gift shop, interesting exhibition, and friendly, engaging staff. If you are travelling up or down Hwy 19, I’d highly recommend it!

The Glenora Inn & Distillery in Nova Scotia is a whisky distillery that offers rooms and chalets. It also has a pub where guests can enjoy drinks and snacks. The inn dates back to the 1800s and is popular for its laid-back atmosphere.

We visited Summer of 2017. Wanted to go back but after the pandemic hit was unable to. There is not a spot more beautiful than the land this distillery sits on. The employees are top notch, the facilities are mesmerizing. If anyone is on the fence about whether they want to go; I fully recommend this destination!

Stunning location, overall amazing experience. We booked the pub for dinner and there was live music, great food, very reasonably priced. Got breakfast boxes for the next morning and ate them outside our room (we stayed in the brookside). Did the tour the next morning, which was very informative. Will definitely recommend to anyone coming to NS and will return myself!

My family and I went for a birthday dinner. I hate giving a negative review for a local place, but, unfortunately, I have to.The service was terrible. Very unprofessional. Slow. She gave us the excuse she was busy with other tables. Then, the food was disappointing. My fish cakes were tasteless. No salt! And, when I asked the waitress to share my feedback with the kitchen she told me she was really surprised because no one else had complained about the food before. She basically argued with me, instead of accepting my feedback and passing it along. My 7 yr old was done eating, but my 5 year old was in the middle of eating her tasteless pasta ( my 5yr olds words) when the server abruptly brought them their ice cream dessert (it came with the kids meal). We were all shaking our heads about the weird service when My 7 yr old said “ usually the waitress says, are you ready for dessert?”I asked her to please take it away and bring it when she’s done eating. She finished eating and waited and waited and waited. To the point I called the manager and said the waitress hasn’t been back in a very long time…… I’m talking like 20 mins of my daughter saying “where is she? I want my ice cream now mama”.VERY DISAPPOINTED. And, more disappointed to have to say it about a local place and local people. The prices are high. It’s considered fine dining. But, it did Not live up to those standards tonight. 😞

The distillery tour was interesting as well, plus it was great to try the whiskies. Would not hesitate to recommend & I'd be happy to revisit in the future!!

I've visited the Glenora more than once and have been stunned by the beauty every time. It reminds me of a fairy tale with it trickling streams and beautiful foliage. We stayed in the Lodge and it was beautiful. The room was so spacious with more amenities than most, and huge comfortable bed. We loved being out on the wrap around balcony accessible from our room in the morning admiring the fall colors. The restaurant is pretty good, there was live music which was just ok but definitely gives you a cultural experience. The Distillery tour is free with your stay and very easy to co-ordinate. It's so worth it !!! It's so interesting, informative, and beautiful! Thanks!!!!

I already loved their product (only Canadian single malt whisky), now even more. Loved our guided tour with a passionate tour guide who's so knowledgeable. The pub fare and music were fabulous. Can't wait to go back again

Visited for an interesting distillery tasting tour and lunch of mussels, burgers, smashed fish cakes. Pleasant setting and service, good (but not great) food, local music. Lovely grounds with gardens.

Amazing place, very beautiful and cozy! Came here for the pub and loved everything about it! The menu is very good and have a great veggie falafel burger! There’s many things you can get here, highly recommend the falafel burger or the lobster roll burger! Overall, great dinner experience and would come again!

We visit Cape Breton every year and eating at the pub in Glenora is always a must on our trip. Food is always great - no matter what you get and service is friendly. On this trip we also did a tour of the distillery which is only 30 mins and very interesting. We did not stay at the inn but I gave it 5 stars just for the view and location.

Robert T — Google review

Paid for the "normal" tour, which was posted as being 30 minutes, we were told 20 minutes after we paid, and after 11 minutes it was up and we were told to see ourselves back to where we started. When we told our "host" it seemed like a pretty thin tour he said it was because there were 30 people and somehow that made it hard. Nonsense, the tour was a joke and had nearly zero content. If it had been free perhaps it would be acceptable but not paid. Give the place a miss and go somewhere that will appreciate you.

Magnificent. A beautiful location made even better by the fall colours. The room was great with s nice view of the stream. Our tour of the Distillery (by Cecil) was very informative. The food at the restaurant was also excellent and quite reasonably priced. One negative was the terrible pot marked condition of the parking area. Only a minor inconvenience however.

There is no star for this ,but you have to give one to Post.Glen Breton ,Rare ,ten year old .Watered down Moonshine at Best. Also i think color was added.Do not waste taste buds or cash on this . Three quarters of this has been with me three week . The first quarter has taken me four weeks .Keep thinking its me , my taste buds are wrong ,NOPE.Hard to swallow and even worst to taste. Don't buy.Seagram's 83 , is better by far .. Who Knew. Now you do ..

Fantastic food, amazing service and staff and the spirits are legendary! My crew and I had the pleasure of staying with Glenora while filming in the Cape Breton area and we were blown away!Cannot recommend Glenora enough! A MUST SEE destination in Nova Scotia!

We decided to stay in the Chalet after a long day driving the Cabot Trail, upon arriving you pull into a beautiful property with a large archway and driveway that leads straight to the distillery. The building as well as the grounds itself are so magnificent that makes it seem you have hopped across the ocean to Scotland. We checked into our Chalet and were a little disappointed in the fact that the restaurant was only open seasonally which I feel they should state somewhere as there were not a lot of options open as we arrived just after 5pm.When we walked into the chalet we were immediately impressed as it was small but big enough for a couple and is super cozy. There is a wood fireplace to heat the chalet and a huge jacuzzi tub. Very nice spot for a couple. The next morning we walked onto the patio and was blown away by the view. Before checking out we did the tour of the distillery which is about 20 min. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, we wanted to leave with a bottle but it’s important to note that their cheapest available option is 80$ but is available at most liquor stores throughout the country. So if you want a bottle of whiskey that you can only get at the distillery you will be paying a pretty penny. The sales woman was a little pushy which can turn away most people. Other than that, I do think you are paying for the experience but I am glad I experienced it.

David M — Google review

We were here only for a tasting of the whiskey. From the outside, the distillery actually reminded us of Scotland. The whisky is very good, although significantly more expensive than comparable whiskies from Scotland (at least compared to prices in Europe). The service was friendly, but reserved (maybe because we didn't order food?) Overall, some more information about the whiskies would have been nice. Still, definitely worth a visit.

Stopped just to pick up a local ice wine barrel aged scotch. We did a tour 7 years ago that was very informative and recommend it. Beautiful well kept grounds.Update: Customer Service issue addressed by the owners below in reply so I have deleted the comments. Changed rating from 3 to 4 stars

Lovely distillery and restaurant. We got there too late for the tour but went to the pub and did the flight. You get 5 different half ounce pours for $35 ranging from basically moonshine to 19 great old cask work oat cookies and water to dilute. I personally prefer Irish whiskey but enjoy the Scottish style whiskey. Lovely location, great food, great whiskey and child friendly. Worth a stop

As a whisky fan, I was perhaps influenced by the opportunity to spend a couple nights at a unique distillery on a beautiful site. Unfortunately the beauty of the surrounding Cape Breton area didn’t offset the disappointment with the accommodation. We had an “executive king” in the Glenview, which offered a beautiful view and very generous square footage, but lacked in some basic appointments: no towel racks in bathroom and no table to eat the modest continental breakfast of yogurt, granola, cheese, apple and juice (first day we weren’t provided cutlery or napkins). The mattress of the bed was terrible and offered no support (be careful if you turn in your sleep or you might roll off the bed). Not that we watch a lot of television when on vacation, but there was no reception on the first night, so it felt like we were in an expensive campsite. The dining service was a much more positive experience: great menu, attentive staff, plus access to the delicious Glenora liquids. Live entertainment provided a pleasant backdrop. Our second day included a troubling discovery: housekeeping staff had left the patio door to our room unlocked and open. Thankfully our belongings were still there, but our personal security was shaken. We enjoyed the distillery tour, shout out to Cecil. Our experience was perhaps more positive due to just 4 people in the group. Suggest that Glenora consider limiting size of the tour groups to permit more engaging and intimate conversation.Overall, I’d recommend Glenora for the dining and bar menu, but can’t endorse the accommodation. At $330 per night, it didn’t meet expectations.

Beautiful location, beautiful inn, wonderful service. We spent a lovely night at the Inn. They thought of everything in our room. Two luggage racks, two chairs, comfy bed, coffee, fridge, patio etc. We had a delicious meal in the pub and enjoyed the live music. A must for any trip to Cape Breton.

J L — Google review

Fantastic distillery. Excellent scotch. Nice pub. Good food. Very good restaurant and the highlight: music.

P W — Google review

Good Morning,We stayed in one of the small cabins #10. We expected somewhat of a rustic feel but unfortunately this was a little too rustic. The fridge was frozen solid and the kitchenette was lacking in all areas and understocked. This put a huge damper in our stay especially for the price. Compared to our stays prior and after, this didn't hit the mark. If the Inn were to revisit these units they could overcome these shortcomings by updating the amenities in these cabins and creating a more warmer setting for future guests. For a one night stay this could be overlooked but typically when you rent a cabin up above for multiple nights, you would be disappointed.

S S — Google review

Did the tour which was very fun. Enjoyed lunch with a flight of whisky. Calamari appetizer was great. My wife had fish and chips which was excellent. The ribs had the best sauce I ever had. Couldn’t convince them to give me the recipe. Jordan offered us excellent service.

Martin G — Google review

Loved our stay at Glenora Inn & Distillery. Had dinner at their restaurant which was fantastic and included live music. I did find the whiskey's a little too high in price range for me but I am sure others wouldnt think the same. That being said I still bought a couple of bottles to bring home.

Public golf course

Outdoor Activities

Cabot Links is a luxurious golf resort situated beside the ocean and offering contemporary accommodations, a trendy restaurant, and an 18-hole course. It has gained global recognition as one of the top courses in the world, together with its sister course Cabot Cliffs. The links courses provide an opportunity to experience golf on the ground and in the air, using creativity to navigate through challenging fairways and greens that are set against breathtaking Cape Breton coastline views.

The golf course met (possibly exceeded) my husbands expectation and the room definitely exceeded mine. I was allowed to walk the course with him which I thought was a nice touch. The staff in every department were so personable and friendly. Having such a good restaurant as well as a pub provided options, which there won't be many of in this small town. We immediately started planning when we will be back.

Annelise R — Google review

The chowder will knock your socks off. We had the green salad and the ceasar salads with cups of chowder and ended up regretting not getting bowls. Great service and atmosphere. Highly recommend - good alternative to the restaurant if you can't get reservations.

I’ve been to Bandon and Sand Valley so I knew what to expect. Excellence in all areas. Golf, service, food, everything should be laid back not in your face (except the golf views), but very accommodating and always ready to help. This place was spot on and nailed it in every area. The golf is amazing, service perfect always, food excellent and just perfect for me.Is it tough to get to? AbsolutelyIs everything rustic? Yup but subtlety high end like heated bathroom floors. If you love golf, love to walk, love great food/drinks and atmosphere and spend little time in your room other than sleeping this is it. It’s completely perfect for that.If you want an easily accessible crowded resort with a pool, spa, huge rooms, etc then this isn’t it.

Fup B — Google review

I don't play golf but my husband does and he loved this course. I enjoyed the stunning scenery and amenities! There is no wonder why it's ranked top #10 in the world.

Samantha C — Google review

What an incredible golf resort. Stayed here for a weekend, played the cliffs and the links. Rooms are nice but very overpriced. You get over this quickly though as you spend you day on the golf courses. The views are fantastic, the courses are in immaculate condition, and they are two of the top ranked courses in the entire world. There are a few restuarants options on the resort and the food is good. Make sure to get caddies if it is your first time playing, really enhances the experience. You need to book well in advance as this is a very popular destination.

Luke M — Google review

Great all around experience. I was at the resort for a conference in June 2022. What a great place to have a business meeting. I didn’t have a chance to play the course as I had too much in my agenda, however, the course looks amazing and there were a tremendous amount of players out on the course, even though the weather wasn’t cooperative. The rooms were great, we’ll appointed with great views of the course. As well as being very clean and upgraded. The conference facilities, although not tremendously spacious, we’re perfectly adequate for 20-30 attendees. The real standout here was the food. I ate here 4 times during my stay and the food was to say the least, tremendous. I had lunch in two of the days as well as dinner and breakfast. The entire culinary part of the stay was amazing. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a golf getaway, or a small conference or meeting. We’ll done, Cabot Cape Breton!!

My favorite destination in Canada. The best hospitality anywhere apart from a great golf experience.

Peter S — Google review

We stayed one night in a double room in the hotel portion of this golf course/resort. The bathroom was spa like and wonderful but the rest of the room fell flat with a price tag of $500+ a night. We were dodging the conga line of potato bugs in our room the entire time. The views here are phenomenal though.

Absolutely amazing. Breath taking scenery. Wonderful people. I'm not a golfer but you don't have to be to enjoy this incredible carved gem of God's masterpiece. My husband golf's and as it claims, this is a world renowned golf course that challenges and doesn't disappoint. If you can get a spot which is challenging, don't pass it up. All of Cape Breton is majestic... This is only one of the many places you need to see on this wonderful island.

Allura N — Google review

One of the premier golfing destinations in the role and all of the accolades deserved. If possible, fly a private jet close to the golf course because if you fly from the west coast as I did , with connecting flight and long car ride… well, it’s a long day to get there. But fear not if you have a long journey, it’s worth it. Really well done course. Both the cliffs and the links courses are great. Really great. The caddies? Yikes, had a few over a few days and personally didn’t have the worlds greatest experience, but it was good enough. The grounds are nice. The swag is great too. Overall a wonderful location, golf course, employee mix, restaurants and time at Cabot Cap Breton.

Michael C — Google review

We were unfortunately only here for golf and didn't get to stay, but the area is amazing. An absolute gem of a place if you can make your way up here (or "down" here, to the locals). One of the best golf courses in the world, and the people couldn't be more friendly. This was a bucket list item for me and was so happy to get to play here with my dad and cousin on the last weekend before the course shut down for the year. Looking forward to our next trip. I'm the meantime I try to tell anyone I can that they need to make the same trip!

Breathtaking is an understatement. The views are second to none. My son is doing a work term here for the summer to get his hours for red seal chef. Chef Malcolm, the executive chef is an amazing person. He met my son and showed Kris around and helped him get settled in. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Without a doubt the most beautiful golf course and establishment I have ever seen!

Michelle B — Google review

Absolutely loved our stay.We stayed in a hillside home. Upon arrival we thought we had to check in over at the links side - you actually don’t have to do that. There’s a spot at the Cliffs in the new bar building to check in and check out. It’s so gorgeous in there, we did not realize it until our last day, wish we would have spent more time there. We thought our home wouldn’t have any views, but the homes are so well thought out you can see the ocean from any building! These homes are closest to the driving range. We actually walked down for our golf, but there is no path, we just walked the road. The homes are beautiful and well equipped. Had a nice card and booze for us upon arrival. Both rooms had a washroom and ocean views with a beautiful ocean view from the main room as well.Such a great touch having shuttles on call for dinner or golf rides. They were always fast to get you to and from where you wanted to go.Only complaint is Whits pub. I wouldn’t go there for dinner or food again. Service was slow, food was not great. It was the only meal in our entire Nova Scotia trip we were impressed with. If your just going for nighttime drinks and to party, it’s a good spot!Loved our trip and will return for sure!

Shaina W — Google review

The four of us headed out to Cabot for a much anticipated week of golf. I had been hearing about people raving about Cliffs and Links and it's very rare when an experience EXCEEDS your expectation. Cabot has designed golf heaven! I could not recommend going more. They have figured out how to create the ultimate golf experience, with pristine conditions and jaw dropping views and still create a welcoming culture. I have been to many top golf courses and they feel pretentious, not Cabot! The Cape Breton values shine through, creating a welcoming, relaxed dose of luxury. The golf is perfection and the food is great with surprisingly reasonable menu costs. We stayed in a villa and I would highly recommend it, the experience is undefeated.

Ian L — Google review

Didn't stay in the hotel but both courses should be on your bucket list. Carpet fairways to the groomed greens andScenic views that can't be beat.

Murray T — Google review

Challenging course with lots of features, but at least the fairways are generous. Also, the greens are huge and in great shape, but tough because of the contours. The views are unbelievably beautiful and the service was great! Scott was especially helpful, friendly and entertaining!

Capt. Greg was very accommodating and rescheduled our excursion from a stormy, rainy day to a beautiful sunny day. The excursion itself was relaxing and enjoyable. It was fun to try our hand at sailing, and to have the captain there to guide us. Great way to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary on the Bras d'Or!

Deb B — Google review

I have always wanted to go sailing and Captain Greg and Brandon made that dream a reality. We booked a private charter with Captain Greg for the day and it did not disappoint. The boat was lovely and there was lots of space to explore and sit on different parts of the boat to get a different perspective of the lake and sail around you. One of the best parts of the day was that we were able to drive the boat ourselves! I never in a million years would have thought that I'd be handling a sailboat--albeit it was a little scary but Captain Greg was there the entire time for reassurance. We were able to dock for lunch and even had a quick dip in the lake. On top of that, they were great conversationalist and it felt like we were among friends. There was a safe place for us to park our car and it was a quick walk to the dock. Additionally, the price was great for a full day of sailing. If you're ever in the Bras D'or Lake area and you'd like to sail, definitely connect Cape Breton Sailing Charters. You won't regret! Thank you Captain Greg for making this such an amazing first sail!

Oana H — Google review

Highly recommend exploring Bras d'Or Lake from the water with Captain Greg and his first mate, Moose. We enjoyed a special day of sailing into coves and around islands, and learned about the history of the area and current happenings. If you are interested in learning to sail, Greg offers the opportunity to try your hand at the wheel and the patient encouragement to build confidence. Perfect way to spend a day in the area. Thank you Greg and Moose!

Hans S — Google review

Captain Greg was fantastic. We had a wonderful sailing experience with him. We got a bit of sailing 101 and could really get the feeling for it. Also great conversation about many other varied topics, all with a great tour of the local area. We got to steer the sailboat, which of course, is not the hard part of sailing! Thanks Greg for a great experience! Hope to see you again soon!

Etienne B — Google review

Excellent experience! The captain and mate provided us with safe and exciting days of sailing. Our grandkids, ages 4,6 and 8, all took turns at the helm and learned a lot about sailing and navigation from Captain Greg. This was a very family friendly activity.

My son and I had a fantastic half day cruise with Cape Breton Sailing adventures. Not only did we get a unique perspective of the area from the water (impossible to get from the road!) but benefitted from Captain Greg’s knowledge and stories. It enriched our trip so much. The sailing was lovely, hands-on, and fun. Highly recommend.

Lisa F — Google review

Wow, we really didn't know what to expect but we were so impressed with our 2 day sailing trip! Captain Greg and Moose were very knowledgeable and patient with us. Love going through St.Peters canal! We would definately book again.

Aurora S — Google review

Greg is a wonderful host. So knowledgeable of the lake, Cape Breton, and Nova Scotia history. We had a lovely sail. My husband got to sail the entire 6 hours which was a real treat for him. Highly recommended.

Rhonda F — Google review

Captain Greg and First Mate Moose provided a top-notch experience sailing the Bras d’Or Lake. I have a limited background in sailing, which I hoped to build on through a half-day charter. This sail gave me that chance, with the CBSC team allowing me to steer the No Rush and giving helpful feedback throughout the sail. For clients who’d prefer a more laid-back time on the water, Greg and Moose are informed about the local area, and quite conversational to boot. As for the vessel herself, she’s comfortable and well appointed. After our sail, Captain Greg sent me a GPS track of our route. A nice souvenir! All told, I highly recommend Cape Breton Sailing Charters and hope to be back soon.

Simon J — Google review

What an experience! Do yourself the favor and do the full day, well worth it. We had a wonderful time learning to sail while relaxing and enjoying the unbelievable beauty that surrounded us. Capt.Greg is not only knowledgeable about the area and his craft but extremely respectful of the areas heritage. When it wasn't my time behind the wheel- ya you get to drive!- his First Mate Moose was showing me the ropes, literally. We spent the entire time falling in love with the area, connecting with the wind and water and enjoying their company. If you need a place to stay in the area, just ask, Capt.Greg has wonderful suggestions!!

I was very disappointed in this campground. We showed up with our confirmation paperwork from them and they informed us that we couldn’t stay the last night that we had a reservation for. They admitted it was their mistake but did nothing to help accommodate us. Luckily the campground we were going to next let us come a day early. They acted like they were doing us a favor by not charging us for the day we couldn’t stay. I realize mistakes happen but they didn’t try to help us out at all.

Big Spruce Brewing, an organic craft brewery in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, is the realization of Jeremy and Melanie White's ambitious vision. Located in a century-old farmhouse near Bras d'Or Lake, this establishment offers a diverse selection of beers, ales, and hard seltzers for patrons to enjoy. The scenic hopyard provides breathtaking views of the lake, while the taproom and Sprucetique gift shop offer the same captivating scenery.

What an awesome spot. Just outside of Baddeck Nova Scotia.. worth the drive if you are near the area.Beautiful scenery overlooking the Bras D'Or lakes.Sit outside on one of the many picnic tables or sit in a large screened in gazebo if it's raining or if the bugs are bad.Food truck on-site, but we didn't get anything from the food truck. Now to the important part and the reason you came here for.... beer!I'm a stout lover and this brewery makes one of my favorite stouts! I live in New Brunswick and we can't get their beer here, so I picked up a dozen to bring home. The stout is what I dream of.. its an even balance of flavours. Pours nice, carbonated just right.. and it's organic! The staff are super friendly, the location is amazing and they have non alcoholic drinks if you have kids or non booze drinkers. Can't wait to get back to Baddeck or to the nearest Nova Scotia liquor store to pick up some more Big Spruce beer.I wish your beer was available in New Brunswick!

Third time visiting this beautiful and perfectly positioned stop to/from Cape Breton. They have done a great job decorating the facility and grounds with both indoor and outdoor, daytime and night time fire pit areas. Lots of great beer choices and looks like good food too. Nice that they have a large property and welcome RVs easily too, but if going east, the first turn going up to the property is sharp..

We enjoyed our visit to Big Spruce on a rainy Saturday! It was surprisingly still quite busy despite the rain. We scored an indoor seat and enjoyed some beer and burgers. All was fantastic and it was great there was a vegan option for the burger. Lots of dogs there as well (which we loved) so be mindful if you do not enjoy dogs. We were also surprised with some live music which we really enjoyed. Even the baby had a good time :) All around a fun afternoon. Will definitely go back on a sunny day!

Lots and lots of history, very interesting walk through time learning about intriguing past. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and actors.Unfortunately we had only one hour to visit before closing time. Check the open hours before you go.

What a gorgeous place. So serene. Travel at your own pace and learn about the intriguing past.We had a disabled member in our group with physical restrictions, and we sadly missed out on a lot of the buildings (there's a lot of hills and walking), but the place isn't accommodating for that.

Beautiful location with scenic views. Living history village that starts with the Cape Bretons heritage to Scotland to the present day. They have a huge horse roaming around as well and some other animals.

A perfect outdoor "museum". You get to walk through time to experience living conditions from the Scottish immigrants through the early 1900s. Great, authentic exhibits, super friendly people and hill top views you will not believe. You could spend a whole day there and not get bored. Very relaxed and peaceful.

What a great experience this was to see and walk thru with a guided tour.Very well planned and organized, with lots of hands-on experiences, keeping your attention without being boring or saturating in detail.Definitely well worth the cost of entry.

What a fantastic, educational site regarding Gaelic culture and heritage. Great interpreters dressed in period clothing.

Lots and lots of history. A must on your to-do list. People are very friendly and knowledgeable. Pet friendly.

This was a great find and very educational. The living history people were great and friendly. It wasn’t crowded at all. And there were beautiful views from up there. Expect a lot of walking. Highly recommend.

The place represents a village from the Wilhelminian era. The staff is dressed appropriately and provides information with a lot of charm about the time and the worries and needs of the people as well as the joyful times. You have to take a little time and get involved with the stories.

Friendly staff, good costumes and fantastic views! The history was so interesting and I'm glad I know more about the people who came before us!

I'm a little surprised at how much I enjoyed this museum and the walking tour. The staff and character actors who represent each building/era etc are all very friendly, fun and knowledgeable and most speak fluent Gaelic which is quite cool. The museum itself is set upon a hill overlooking the ocean so the walk between exhibits has an amazing view. It's a beautiful well kept informative tour and they seem to constantly be improving and expanding. It was the first summer coming out of the pandemic so there were a few spots that didn't have an actor (no blacksmith this day) but all in all I really enjoyed it. Recommend it to anyone looking for a casual tour through a time in Nova Scotia's history.

We walked in thinking it was going to be like any other indoor museum but we were wrong- it was BETTER. The price was $11 per person to get in and I think the price you pay is way below what they should be charging. This could easily be an expensive museum but it’s not! This place takes you back in time, with people dressed up like they we were back in the 1800’s when the Scott’s left Scotland and arrived in Nova Scotia! People are amazing, you get to see the amazing set up from that time. The church was brought to this museum in one piece! The views are breathtaking, there are a few animals on site like a horse, pig and some 🐑. We went there when tourists weren’t there so got to interact with the people 1on1 which was great so get to learn their history. Apparently this place can hold around 700 people at a time when the cruise ships arrive! Go see it for your self. Promise you won’t be disappointed :)

Visited this center as part of a cruise ship tour. Very beautiful and picturesque location overlooking the bras d'ore. Easy to imagine you are in the Highlands of Scotland. Would be even better to visit in a smaller group to be able to enjoy listening to the guides in the exhibits, some speaking Gaelic and dressed in period costumes.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this place. The workers were friendly and knowledge. They were dressed for the time period, and answered questions the same way. It was dog friendly, which is a huge plus for me.

A local treasure trove of stories, artifacts and natural history. Whether you care about the history, nature or the art of salmon fishing, there is something to be cherished here. A library of antique books can help you learn increasingly rare skills and knowledge.

This museum has an amazing number of exhibits of salmon, rods and reels and beautifully tied flies( lures). There's a great deal of history about fishing in the area. The lady who spoke with us made it all very interesting and easy to understand. It's a little off the beaten track, but worth it.

This was hands down the best stop we made during our time on the Cabot Trail! Worth the detour. Learned so much about the culture & history of the island, and those who made it home. Wish I could give it 6 stars.Lobster < Salmon

My parents are from the Margarees, long-tail families as my mother always said. She grew up by the Forks and Dad went to school in the building now the museum. Us 5 kids went from the U.S. with our own families and Dad in tow and we went to the Salmon Museum! It was awesome history for us and our Dad! Salmon was a big thing, and fly fishing, and as kids, we all swam in the river down by my Aunt & Uncle's near Tompkins Road (family name). My one brother got a salmon before we left! It took every day up there, but he got one the night before we left. My father's sister in the states had (afterwards) shown us a picture of herself, my father (her brother) and their younger siblings in the school house, now museum, when they lived in Big Brook. My mother's father was a salmon guide at the McDaniel pool and we were thrilled to see pictures of him at the museum. He was also in WWI and WWII with numerous medals including either a Bronze or Silver Star, Purple heart - a very impressive amount of awards for his service and bravery. My Dad recognized people everywhere we went or they recognized him, even at the museum. That was 2005. He left home in 1960 with my mother to the U.S. Us 5 kids are still in touch with our family up there and we stayed last at Lake O'Law. We hope to be back in summer 2021. The museum is a wonderful place to visit, and any descendants from the area!

We found this place accidentally. It was one of the coolest places ever. Not only was the staff knowledgable, friendly and kind. They made it a pleasure to visit and knew everything about every display and item in there. Clearly they loved their job and preserving the local history of the area. I was very impressed. I am not sure why they are not on Trip Advisor or in local "things to do" well worth the visit

Amazing place for salmon fishing lovers and all.We didn't know anything about salmon fishing, but we're received by Shawn, what a wonderful surprise, he is knowledgable, funny and light in character, he made our visit memorable.

I like small museums. They take just the right amount of time to visit, they are more personable and intimate especially with an educated staff, and are usually connected with the local area in some way. This museum has all of this, really great!

She is very kind. And got a useful infomation.Thanks.

We are non-fisherman but it was still an interesting experience. The lady who worked there was lovely and guided us through the exhibits. Overall, an excellent time was had.
